If you buy what is and you started with Reason 3, then you are still able to collaborate with people who use Reason 3 as you were when you bought it. Besides you can still use any Refills for the instruments in Reason 3 can' t you? I do not know whether Reason 3 files can be opened in 6.5 or vice versa (using only the shared modules of course) but this has so far not been your concern. What you keep ranting about is midi and vst support. Two things you haven't been promised at any time before you bought the product, right? Finally there is still this problem that you apparently spend all your time writing about Reason instead of using it or find an alternative. I recommend shifting to Orion. It is a softsynth studio concept with many of the features you request and a good deal of users you can collaborate with. In others words: Isn' t it time for you to move on or do you intend to spend the rest of your life crying over Reason at KVR?
so you are telling me you know people who prefer to stay on windows 98 playing reason 1, and they are happy? LOL  where?!

Flying Lotus made all his records until Cosmogramma (2010) with Reason 3

As they say "A bad workman blames his tools."

Why do you have to stay on Windows 98 to use Reason 1?

Personally I was very happy with audio tracks, and their timestretch is without doubt one of the best I've heard. My point is simply that PH keep doing U-Turns, which is just disconcerting in terms of taking seriously much of what they now say.

There used to be no doubting the specific vision PH had, nor the specific value that Reason had as part of my bigger setup. These days it's a lot less sure, and the stuff they are focusing on is, from my point of view, overlap. But it's totally fair of course that YMMV.

PH, to my knowledge, have never said "never" to much at all. Anyone that can cite examples via link from interviews, PH documentation, or anything that is spoken from the company, that would be great and helpful.

What I "recall" is that they say they won't just "throw" it in. It has to be done in a way that they feel is unique and fits into their philosophy. That philosophy can be anything, but it's theirs. Not yours, mine or anyone else's. It can be for workflow, money, marketing, enjoyment, etc. It doesn't matter. Philosophy is organic, it grows over time to fit the culture of the company and objectives that can shift for whatever reason.

Besides...ANY business can change direction to whatever they want. If they didn't, then they wouldn't adapt, and then they'd most likely perish. Anybody that thinks differently most likely hasn't ever worked at a high enough level in a company to know any better.

No I am telling you that you are a pathetic little whiner with absolutely no other problems that the ones you make for yourself and that you should either find a piece of software which fullfills your needs or just get a life instead of making a jerk of yourself at KVR. Got it crybaby?

regarding audio tracks:
"I think it's out of the question if we just said 'a little bit of audio'. That's the sort of thing that we just don't do. We have a lot of people saying: 'You could just put in a couple of tracks' or 'Why don't you do an ADAT-like device and call it ReCorder?' A nice idea, but it's the wrong way to approach an issue like that. If you put an ADAT into the rack, it's like having a little 16-channel Mackie mixer and an ADAT connected to it. At what point do you become more frustrated and begin to say 'I want to do more than that, I want to do editing. Why don't I have editing?' That instantly becomes an issue. Then it becomes 'Oh, I need more mixing facilities...' And then Reason as a concept, as a product to make music, might change too much. That's why audio tracks at this time is really a no-no, because we feel we'd be ruining what we created rather than enhancing it". This was Niels Larsen in 2003.

regarding dongles:
"Piracy is a big problem, of course. But we're very pleased that so many people choose to do the right thing. We try also, rather than introducing copy protection that frustrates users and yet is instantly crackable, to make service and support easy for the people who have done the right thing and bought the program. We don't want to frustrate them with installation processes that are more convoluted than downloading a pirate version, if you know what I mean. It's almost a punishment with some software products to actually buy them. We really want our users to have an easy life. We try instead to add value to the process of registration. We have a very good registration database, and for our registered users we hope we will make our service much better. Just register your software, and we'll sort you out". This was Nathor Boos some time ago.

Regarding plugins... well just go to www.propellerhead.se

Thank you. I think you just proved my point. See bolded text above in the quote from your text.

Audio Tracks: They didn't add them at that time because they didn't feel it would enhance what they had by throwing in a solution that wasn't thought out and didn't solve the problems he mentioned in the blurb. When they COULD solve those, they DID add audio.

Dongle: They didn't implement an instantly crackable system. They implemented one that has yet to be cracked. Again, well thought out. Now they wont have the software cracked and all the developers that develop REs take advantage of that. Great for PH, great for the developers, and great for those of us that throw down our hard earned cash for the software. Win/Win/Win.

Thanks for posting that, myrna. You have put the issue to bed for us all.

Codemeter frustrates a lot of users though (especially, but not only, those of us for who it's drivers have caused conflicts and crashes). So best make that win/win/lose in which those of us who throw down our hard earned cash stand to lose.

Outlier. I would never let the direction of my company be dictated by outliers. Nor those never satisfied. At some point, as a business, you have to allow those customers to be let go and move forward. Looks like the PH are good with that philosophy as are most successful business.

3xWin ...with oversampling

@drez --> well, maybe something you don't know about "audio tracks is a no-no". At that time everyone asked for audio tracks in reason. So why introducing them ONLY years later and ONLY because they had to merge record and reason due to financial failure? I don't find it very coherent... Regarding the dongle, you forgot to underline the key sentence: "we don't want to frustrate our users"...

But, again, english is not my language, so sorry for not grasping the shades... Traslated in italian is much simpler to understand the inchoerence in it.

So all those who experienced any frustrations with codemeter, having spent hundreds of their hard earned pounds on Reason, are customers PH are or should be glad to see the back of???!!! Have they said this??? Nice...

Apparently they HAVE said this with their corporate direction: codemeter.

So yes, those that have had problems with codemeter that PH couldn't get to work right because of something they couldn't either address with the customer or with the customers outlier system, it would appear PH said "sorry, but the business demands we move forward". I'm happy they didn't waste anymore time on it.

Those that paid for version 5 which doesn't have a dongle are free to use the software that they purchased and were happy with have lost nothing.

That's yet another win for all of us.
