Well, learned what "sophism" means.
Me, too. After about the 4th reference I decided I should hit the dictionary.

"an argument apparently correct in form but actually invalid; especially : such an argument used to deceive"

Not too bad. But I LOVE this sentence from the Wiki page: "...it might use obscure words and complicated sentence constructions in order to intimidate the opponent into agreement out of fear of feeling foolish."

If this is true, isn't USING the word "sophism" actually sophism???

I think you're on to something here. Genius observation. You have created an endless loop. I think they could have used that in War Games vs. Tick Tac Toe. Haha

I am glad you've just discovered something new for you... You could read, as a starting point, Schopenhauer's little book "how to obtain reason in 38 stratagems", you'll learn how things work... jump the rest, read (and learn) only "stratagems":

Or you could obtain it here in just a few clicks. Much better.

Thanks for the link. I'll read over it shortly.

Googled it and this post is already second on the list... dang.

One thing I have yet to really mess with in reason is the ReGroove MIXER..

How do you apply ReGroove changes to a simple midi loop in kong? without using note lanes?

After reading these stratagems, I'd say that it is unnecessary to teach these tactics. It's more like a checklist for "How To Identify A Jerk By His Intellectually Dishonest Debate". In fact, I hardly found an item on that list that didn't scream out "news media", "talk radio", "celebrity politics", or "DAW fanboy/hater". Boy, I hate that style.

Sadly, now that I understand this term (sophism), I will be unable to use it without succumbing to it.

WOPR would have choked like GLaDOS almost did with the liar paradox. http://i1.theportalwiki.net/img/8/8d/GL ... adox04.wav[/url]
