If I navigate to the correct location, when I close the window it goes right back to the weird location I don't want? Not sure where the heck that location cam from??? I've added favorites, but they have to be manually selected???
I just double-checked this, working fine here on OSX.
Note that the last folder is only memorized when you actually choose a sequence. (load/save) If you cancel the browser, nothing is memorized of course.

The PC version suffers from the same issue, and it's not MuLab specific.
It's because the OS (OSX + Windows) doesn't include a clear way that the user can control the keyboard focus. Afaik.
I was considering loading Snow Lion... Er, would that be a bad idea? Ha!
Snow Lion? Which version is that?

(all those animal names, quite confusing imho)

Er, yes my bad. That would be "Mountain Lion." Ha! I can't keep up with this stuff myself as I just loaded Snow Leopard recently. Are you using Lion or Mountain Lion?

Post

Very strange. I don't have a clue where this default location is coming from when I load a sequence. It seems to have a mind of it's own. I just loaded a sequence with the favorites folder than closed the window... went back in and it's going back to the same location? Somewhere that has nothing to do with the program. I would say it was the system, but this is a brand new install of Snow Leopard on a reformatted drive.

Hmmm... :?:

Well, just found out I can't load Mountain Lion on my "old" ??? laptop so I guess Snow Leopard is it for this computer. Sad, because it still runs CS 5.5 and all my other apps very well. C2 duo 2.2ghz w/4gigs of ram.

Anyway... I guess that solves my future compatibility problems. If only I could get this system to run MuLab without all these weird problems. I have the midi bug, the default location seems to be uncontrollable, and it freezes and crashes if I leave a song open for 30 minutes, then try and quit.

Sigh...

I've installed the latest OSX on my dev laptop; MuLab works fine!

Real crashes seem to be rather rare. It has happened to me twice, I guess because I quit Mulab while the music was still running. Said something about a serious error and it would try to rescue what it could  Nothing at all was lost, though :)

Mattox, a couple questions:

1. Are you using a midi keyboard? Brand... and do you have to select midi setup every time you start MuLab?

2. When you load a sequence, does it go to the "last location" you opened? Try it.

3. What version of OSX are you using? Lion or Mountain Lion?

Like I said I could account for some of these being my system, but this was a clean install on a reformatted HD, so I'm reluctant to blame that. But I would like to establish it's something on my end before I give up or have to replace hardware (keyboard) which is admittedly pretty old. May be drivers or something, although this worked fine on my old system???

:?

It might also depend on the order. When I forget to turn on my midi keyboard before I launch Mulab (which happens every other day or so 8) ), I have to open Midi Setup and click OK before Mulab works.

Will do some more testing in the morning and report back.

Currently I'm working on a song that has 10 tracks... if I work on it for 15-30 minutes save and quit it crashes and says MuLab has quit unexpectedly? Pretty regular now. I save and quit and it says that... Still opens up later etc. but it keeps crashing on exit. Hmmm... is it just me? :?:

Post

Mine has crashed twice upon quitting, don't know if it is the same issue, though. Did it say something about a serious error and that it would try to save as much as possible?

PS: Why is your record audio button yellow according to your signature photo? Looks good, here it is red just like the record events button, though.

Maybe you're using a buggy Vst plugin? Try eliminating the Vst plguins you use, one by one, each time you continue as before until you have the impression the crashes stop. If at some point the crashes stop, then which was the last Vst plugin you excluded? If MuLab also crashes when not using Vst plugins, let me know.

Are you on OSX?

Besides that question, please do the same Vst test described above.

Nope. Just MuLab has unexpectedly quit, reopen, ignore, send report. It reopens, and seems to be ok, but it is a little disconcerting that it crashes regularly on quitting? I'll admit I haven't really done a full composition since working with the new 4.0 versions and since loading Snow Leopard, but still trying to figure out what's happening and whether it's my setup. I really like using the program at this point if I can sort a few of these things out. They do not stop me from using MuLab, but are more an inconvenience than anything.
