Lifes so much simpler in u-he land Komplete 8 naaa..

Well the Komplete summer sale came and went. I kind of got sweaty about no jumping on the "bandwageon". I just have to say I find navigating around a smaller setup so much more conductive to creativity..

I'm going to use the money I might have spent on the maschine crossgrade to Komplete 8, and get Zebra instead!

It just seems so right on to get one tool that does so much so elegantly than get the whole komplete that would sit like a heavy lump on my hard disk.

Zebra, Diva, Filterscape, Uhbik, ACE. My kind of complete. I have the maschine that has loads of sounds, expansion packs, The AAS stuff like the Tassman, Chromaphone, String Studio, and so on.

But I'm most happy about my selection of the U-he stuff..

And without a doubt Zebra is valid purchase EVERY time you can't go wrong with it but...you either need Komplete 8 or don't need it. To say that it is expensive (especially under summer sale) or that it is HDD bloatware is kinda misleading. Just look on spec sheet of normal komplete 8 (not ultimate). For the price of summer sale (which was ridiculously cheap) you could get some amazing stuff which could be nice addon to U-he tools.

You know Zebra is kinda best of all but it still can't do some things. By adding komplete 8 to it you could get creme de la creme of computer synthesis at this point of time.

I've got Komplete already and also building my U-he collection nicely, but I don't see how or why they're being compared tbh.

There's some crossover sure, but when I want a nice grand piano, I don't struggle with Zebra for an hour to try and make one sound convincing, I just fire up Kontakt. And if I want a nice 808 drumkit........

I'm not down on NI, I bought maschine afterall, And plan on getting expansion packs. I just don't want to buy into the fact that we all benefit by owning such large packages from a few major players while creative developers get pushed somewhat to the sidelines. Consumers see that NI can do this package deals cheaply. This puts pressure on smaller developers of new ideas to set lower prices which could make thier business un sustainable in the long term. To break new ground is much more demanding then just selling whats already on the shelf, the smaller developers can have difficulty getting fair returns for their work.

Cheap prices may seem to help consumers of creative music production tools on the short term, but could in the end lead to creative stagnation..

The cost of Zebra is close to the cost of the summer sale crossgrade for Maschine owners, I've my eye's set on Zebra, and no I didn't jump for the NI package, Why? My budget for software is limited I choose to go after specific tools when I have the full price of admission in the bank..

Put another way NI by making such a huge package available at these prices could be seen as skewing the market. No one Developer can really compete with such a huge package on price, And once consumers have bought into NI's coprehensive program they are for the most part basically lost in that program for months or even years, to find out whats there whats available, learn to use it. It's just a lot of work.


As a User also I'm just a little overwhelmed by choice, I see that U-he, has the quality, combine that with the support, creativity, and a pretty impressive development rate, and well I don't really see the problem with giving credit where credit is due.. And staying with a profile that is not a fast moving target, Just think about what happened to the users of Kore....

I'm calling out for a few well made interesting tools, that get the job done more than adequately with the added benefit of well made tutorials, useful sounds.. U-he.com answers this.

So I don't mean to be rough on NI at all. Somehow I just wanted to state I feel well suited for realizing my creative goals without needing to be "Komplete".

I just recently switched to a KOMPLETE AUDIO 6 interface for the driver support. So far I'm quite happy with the device. Of course, I use it mostly with Zebra and Diva....

Well, many of your customers probably have Kompletely Ultimately Komplete Total Edition, AND a bunch of fantastic u-he stuff, much like me.

I also have Maschine, which I love to bits. NI stuff is bangin.

Every track I make has u-he and NI plugins.

If I could only have one synth though, it would be Zebra. Just sayin.

I was a NI endorsee for many years, back in the golden years of NI. I still love them - their synths - but they've really altered their vector in the past couple years, and they've made a couple of (imo) disastrous moves.

Paths diverge. Simple as that, but Absynth, FM8, and Massive will always have a place in my arsenal, as long as they continue to be supported. Those are three great synths.
