What I think it is the best thing in Sonar is the Value offer, you get almost everything you need to do music, for a relatively lower price, only logic is better on that.

automation lanes look good to me. but what is happening to Expanded? are all the features of Expanded that i bought being blended into X2 Producer? FWIW: the current X1 product, for me, and i use the 64 bit version practically every day, ONLY crashes when i try to use IL Vocodex (which i need every now and then)

I hear that!
I do have a soft spot for Sonar because I came to it after Logic 5.5 went Mac only.
Sonar 5 worked sweet for me; since then nothing but trouble. I'm on Studio One now, and realising that my pc's weren't that bad, but the way Sonar worked with them was bloody awful! And the "help" on the forum was often so abusive. Might check this once it's at sale price, and I've seen if they've ironed out any of the long standing bugs. Cakewalk aren't really on it, in that department these days in my opinion.

Well some of them should never have been in Expanded to start with, I mean classing the ability to replace a synth in an instrument track a premium feature! I wouldn't be surprised if they don't bring out an even more Expanded Expanded though 6 months down the line, Sonar Ultimate or Infinite or something.

Can I get a "Hallelujah!" on that? :)

But for us poor PC users, what's the alternative? I see Cubase or Reaper, both of which also have serious issues. One thing's for sure, I'm in vst land for the forseeable future.

exactly! X1 has a lot of bugs in it and its almost 2 years old. On paper Sonar is the best DAW on the market imo but if the features don't work well more than 60-70% of the time then its not worth their asking price. I am an X1 owner and I was really hoping they would fix all of the bugs in X1 and do an X1E release and then come back with X2. X1d is fairly stable and most of the release bugs are gone but there are some old old bugs that have been around for 5 or 6 years that Cakewalk just ignores. Its hard for me to ignore that. With that in mind I am heavily considering trashing it for Pro Tools.
