Is Kontakt 5 being discontinued?

Works best with pancakes!
Make pancakes and fill them with squashed banana "jam". It works nicely with some cinnamon in it, too. yeeehaa!
It's so simple and healthy. I don't use jam any more since I discovered this.

I appreciate that, but even in that abundance, there isn't the samples I want. One can't audition the samples without purchasing the product. The ones I got were nice enough, but not what I wanted. And it's so big, and the intrface totally proprietary. The KSP language is also proprietary. It like reaktor is not simple to program if you want to do anything unusual. So the effect of accepting the Kontakt path is to gradually preclude everything else. That was my experience with NI products, at least. Maybe others have the time to sift though it all, but I don't.EvilDragon wrote:[rest assured that there's nothing out there that can compete with K8U in what you get for the price.

Buy Kontakt alone then or Komplete Basic, but really, Kontakt libs have become the standard in quality VST libraries, so I don't get the "proprietary, taking over the world" arguments....HeavensOnEarth wrote:I appreciate that, but even in that abundance, there isn't the samples I want. I'm constantly amazed at folks who will pay $200 for a soft synth, but balk at buying Kontakt... Well, I guess for them there's always soundfonts.

You write really well. I don't think all companies grow that way, but I know what you are saying. Small isn't always better. Small companies don't have the resources bigger companies can make in product development. Generally there is a fork though: marketing and sales, or R&D. When companies get heavy in M&S, they start trying to push everything else out, and they're more interested in preventing competitors from gaining market share than fostering creativity. It's understandable: they have people who've been working on the same products for years. and the more time one works in growing one thing, the more effort it takes to grow something new. I was down for two years getting ready to do somethi9ng new. Developers who've been working on mature software products in big companies for a decade or more could need even more time to change.DuX wrote:All the companies that adhere to corporation-like philosophy will eventually end up in a banana land [that is - broke], due to insatiable human nature, especially in these idiocracy driven times [unless you have loads of money and everything "latest and greatest", you're not "cool"].

I see alot of that. NI has *positioned itself* that way. There's no real proof that this software is any better than software from anyone else, and there's no real way to substantitate it. The statement that it is some kind of standard in quality is purely subjective.

Anyway, I did alot of work today on point clouds and vertex mesh conversion so it could work in 3D at 25fps. That may not seem important to folks who are only interested in more VSTs at the moment, but things change. I do want to get it done, so I can get back to the most requested plugin: spectral delay. I'm making harmonic delay instead, which I think is better. It is FFT based and quite a bit of work. Probably someone will build something in Reaktor that does the same thing, and it will be available as a commercial plugin to some future integration of Kontakt and Reaktor. I hope so, for the people who put their dollars into it )

Uh, no, pretty obvious if you survey what's out there in acoustic sample libs. Kontakt format wins hands down.HeavensOnEarth wrote:.... The statement that it is some kind of standard in quality is purely subjective.
But if you're more of a synth guy, and don't need much in the way of realistic acoustic instrument libraries, then yeah, I can see how this viewpoint might seem alien to you.

Not really. People frequently write asking for a free copy of an ensemble to work in Reaktor that did spektral delay. The post containing it had may good comments, but the attachement was no longer downloadable, and people wanted it. I do hope people can get it somewhere else. Perhaps there's someone here who'd like to make it, but I'm doing other work now.kb123 wrote:Blatant spamming

and what exactly does that have to do with Kontakt? you have already created what seems like a 100 threads across the board, do u really need to hijack other threads too?HeavensOnEarth wrote:Not really.
