Make pancakes and fill them with squashed banana "jam". It works nicely with some cinnamon in it, too. yeeehaa! It's so simple and healthy. I don't use jam any more since I discovered this.

I appreciate that, but even in that abundance, there isn't the samples I want. One can't audition the samples without purchasing the product. The ones I got were nice enough, but not what I wanted. And it's so big, and the intrface totally proprietary. The KSP language is also proprietary. It like reaktor is not simple to program if you want to do anything unusual. So the effect of accepting the Kontakt path is to gradually preclude everything else. That was my experience with NI products, at least. You write really well. I don't think all companies grow that way, but I know what you are saying. Small isn't always better. Small companies don't have the resources bigger companies can make in product development. Generally there is a fork though: marketing and sales, or R&D. When companies get heavy in M&S, they start trying to push everything else out, and they're more interested in preventing competitors from gaining market share than fostering creativity. It's understandable: they have people who've been working on the same products for years. and the more time one works in growing one thing, the more effort it takes to grow something new. I was down for two years getting ready to do somethi9ng new. Not really. People frequently write asking for a free copy of an ensemble to work in Reaktor that did spektral delay. The post containing it had may good comments, but the attachement was no longer downloadable, and people wanted it. I do hope people can get it somewhere else.
