Recording controller events

Hello, I am using MuLab XT with a Korg MicroKey keyboard. This keyboard has a mod wheel which is mostly useless, because not so many synths support mod wheel. Can I use this wheel to record MIDI controllers, e.g. track volume, or reverb, or resonance, or link it to virtual synth params and record their changes? Basically I need a way to quickly bind this wheel to any parameter, then record it live. Is that possible? Thanks!

Right-click a parameter and choose "Map MIDI Controller", then wiggle the mod wheel and click OK. That should do it.

I have 8 little pads on my Midi keyboard. I tried assigning them to drum pads in MuDrum, but it does not work like for the modulation wheel

MuDrum expects MIDI note on events. Is the keyboard set to have the pads send notes (many keyboards let you pick what the pads send, CCs, RPNs/NRPNs, notes). The 12 pads are just the 12 notes, any octave.fluffy_little_something wrote:I have 8 little pads on my Midi keyboard. Thanks for the explanation. I have no idea what the pads send by default, I suppose I will have to check the Roland manual. I never cared for all those additional controllers on my keyboard, but maybe I should, so many idle hardware sliders and buttons and knobs...

Oh, I see, I had better not ask why you want to sound like thugs/white trash in the first place
Never mind any Ebonics examples, this board probably has a profanity filter anyway
Maybe you could do the first Mulab tutorial in Ebonics, the new tutorial is without any spoken words so far

Well, I will look for the manual tomorrow. I am no professional, I don't have to deliver any music, nor make money from it, I do it just for fun. So it is much harder for me to force myself to deal with the technical details like Midi etc. I am in my mid-40s and more or less quit making music before Midi became the industry standard it is today. So all the computerized stuff is new to me. Nor do I have as much time for it as I wish. That is why I bought Mulab, it seems much more intuitive than FL or Reaper

oh yeah? im mid 40s too.
so midi is the same concept at work anywhere you go, no matter whos synth or plugin youre using. its all built to the midi spec. once you learn midi concepts you dont need to learn again. it applies to everything. i recommend you go out and buy a book explaining midi or just do a google search or whatever. google is your friend.
knowing how a midi plugin works will help you to sound competent when you complain about something hahahaaa
fruity loops is pretty close to 'do it for you' style software. i like fruity loops. you can be a no0b or a pro and get something out of it worthwhile.

I have been reading on it for weeks, can't do it all at once, though
I tend to concentrate on the music, not on what is technically possible, like creating freakish sounds and complex setups. I like programming nice yet simple sounds, but I won't invest too much time in the technical side if it is not really necessary. I have already achieved good results with Mulab despite not knowing every little technical detail
Nor am I complaining about anything, just asking questions and making comments...
