Clean up preset file?

I looked into an own mux file with a text editor and saw a lot of "waste" of earlier versions, e.g. names of modules that are already deleted. I noticed, that a mux file only grows, never shrinks. Is there any function to clean up a preset?

I don't see why a preset file would contain old info. Can you please give me a concrete example.
