I'm glad you guys mentioned how worthless ACT is. When I went to try out Reason and all my keyboards and control surfaces just worked, contextually, I was amazed. But then, they're all pretty ok in Logic, too. It's really just Sonar that sucks with control surfaces and midi learn. I'd been laboring under the assumption that Sonar was typical. It's not. I've read the documentation of how to use ACT. It might as well just be blank for how instructional it is. I've tried and tried. Clearly it's a geek solution to a problem that doesn't exist if the rest of the app natuvy supports a surface (which Sonar has so little of). I see controls and settings and nothing makes any sense at all. And they say ACT makes it easy. BULL!!
Worthless.
I'm lucky that my M-Audio ProjectMix I/O was supported as a Mackie device because ACT is a pile of boxes, buttons, windows and panels that comes together ... not at all.
(why does iPhone auto correct and spell check work so poorly on kvr post forms? Doesn't anyone at kvr use a damn iPhone?? This is the worst website on iPhone and it's the site I visit most often!!)

Wait, now they have another edition of Sonar?? So there are TWO cut down versions of Sonar and, even with Sonar Producer, you still have to buy extra bits ("Expanded") to get the complete feature set? Or are they doing away with "Expanded" now that they have yet another package version at the "lower" end?
I see they're offering X2 free to anyone buying X1... That should just be a grace period but to me it seems a little desperate.

That assumes there was a connection in the first place....hibidy wrote:Connection interrupted, connection FAIL

Oh, and last night, I had a buss set up with various string sections routed to it. I routed the buss output to another buss for reverb. But the strings buss had no send pot to control the reverb amount. Sure, there might be a work-around, but why doesn't it just work the way the other channels work?
And why won't midi learn just work with 3rd-party effects vsts?
Don't even get me started on ACT. Just don't.
Apple guys like to say "it just works" and "it's that simple." I want to slap them. With SONAR, "it's complicated" or "it just doesn't work."
All tracks and channels in SONAR have sends, and as many as you want. You should have used an Aux on the strings bus to the reverb bus in order to have control over send amount, not the bus output. Are you saying an aux should have been there but was not?

There are 3 versions of SONAR X2:Jace-BeOS wrote:Wait, now they have another edition of Sonar?? SONAR Producer
SONAR Studio
SONAR Essential
SONAR Studio has pretty much the core features (minus POWr dither). SONAR Producer basically is Studio with a widely expanded set of instruments, FX and the ProChannel. One can purchase ProChannel Modules in addition to what comes with Producer.

You can single click to add and edit nodes. Are you using the Smart Tool?Gonga wrote:I'd like to be able to just click to add edit nodes, but no, that would be too easy

What kind of screen resolution were you running? SONAR is really designed to run at 1080p.sockofgold wrote:So, as I mentioned in the beginning of this thread, I demoed X1 last night to see what it was all about, and the main thing that struck me was the gigantic GUI. Everything is freaking huge! It seems like a serious waste of screen space.

Aren't event lists archaic simply by their very nature.Jace-BeOS wrote:contrary wrote:

In all honesty, regardless of my dislike, at the very least it's good to see presence. I'm not upgrading again, but at least there is presence.
