MuLab One DAW Challenge!

I was just thinking of the 'one synth challenges' that happen on KVR, and thought maybe you could do a 'one DAW Challenge' with MuLab Free, limited to 4 tracks and give a full version of either MuLab or MUX to the happy winner. It seems a cheap way to garner some interest and get folks trying both MUX and MuLab
I personally have never participated in the challenges on KVR so don't know exactly how that works, but it seems like it is popular.

We would need a judge and Jo may be too busy for that, but it's a great idea for spreading the news.
It should be done though.

Excellent idea but 4 tracks is too limited in my opinion.

Well I think that is part of the challenge! who can do the most with only 4 tracks? And there are tricks to getting more than one apparent instrument on each of the 4 tracks too.satYatunes wrote:Excellent idea but 4 tracks is too limited in my opinion.

Four tracks is too small? The early Beatles albums were recorded on an 4-track tape machine. They did alright with it. There are was to deal with it. It would be an interesting challenge.
This space has been unintentionally left blank.

Good idea! I'll support it. Lets see how to do this practically. The idea i have is that everyone can post MuLab Free sessions here. Every 'winner' will get a MuLab UL user license. When do we have a 'winner'? When the session has a great sound + it's full of creativity + it has a 'popular' sound appealing to a broad public so that it can be used as a demo session for MuLab! Maybe MuLab XT sessions should be included in the competition? How does all this sound?

I personally like the idea of a 4 track limitation, it lets everyone participate on equal footing, no one has a 'bigger gun'. But maybe once there are things to vote on, some poll could be made and people can cast their votes. I personally suck
so i won't be creating anything but will be happy to vote.
How is this handled in the Instruments forum exactly? Maybe someone qualified can be the moderator. Maybe contact V'ger and make it an 'official' KVR contest, ran by them with you just providing the prize, that may be interesting to him.

I was also thinking about a thread in the Instruments section for the MUX creations in terms of sounds and modularity.
Little Assembly of Modules for various tasks beside just instruments.
Like you braj, you made a very neat tool for S1 that could just be a good reason for anyone to get the MUX by getting a free MUX Tool, or modules clusters, assembly, I have no idea how to call these things that could be create and distribute for free as a share library for the future of the MUX.
It would be also a great place for tutorials, like the ones from Tancit, and presets.
A place to discuss and learn more about the MUX in relationship with other VST and Hosts in the market.
Doing it here at MUTOOLS wouldn't expose the MUX properly for the rest of musicians that would be quite glad to see some solutions for their own favorite VST and/or host and at the same time would expose the MUX in the most active forum on KVR.
The MUX can really help to solve lots of issues faced by musicians looking for the missing tool.
The MUX CAN BE that tool.
Btw, I personally suck as well, especially in the MUX modular creations so far....

Yeah that sounds better actually than a song challenge. 'Make a MUX Challenge' instead maybeliquidsound wrote:I was also thinking about a thread in the Instruments section for the MUX creations in terms of sounds and modularity.

How exactly do you share a MUX? I imagine there are some prerequisites ie. someone owns the plugins used. I have a cool Strum Electric pitch shifting scaling strumming fix for instance, anyone with MUX and Strum would benefit from it I think.

Some of us have some online service and opening one for free is very easy, but screenshots should be sufficient for simple ideas or a short video.
Actually if the MUX could have the same video maker included with MuLab, it would be a plus.
For a share library we need to see what kind of options are available. Any idea?
Maybe Jo can create something similar to the demo songs for MUX patches and presets.
The thing is that if the patches are VST specific then the MUX would need a Dummy module to be named as the missing VST, even for the free ones because of distribution restrictions, so that it will be clear where to insert your VST upon downloading the MUX patch.
The Dummy module is important for sharing MUX setups for third party VST.
The MUX is something quite different than anything out there due to its simplicity which equals Power!
But it needs to be understood with real examples and as a tool for existing VST and Hosts.
EXPOSURE!!! With integration to other softwares.

I think MUTOOLS must start with a forum too for Mu sessions files and Mux creationsliquidsound wrote:I was also thinking about a thread in the Instruments section for the MUX creations in terms of sounds and modularity.
