Maplin's mini sound level meter is good VFM:

and so is its big version:

Hope that helps, If you have an iPhone or such there is an SPL Meter 'App', Not used it as I don't have an iThing to use the app with but incase you do it could save you some cash maybe?

Ahh thanks a lot for the suggestions
@ Mushy Mushy - yeah, i mean, we spend thousands chasing gear etc. it would surely make sense to invest £30 in something that could potentially be the best thing you bought for your career
I had the apps, however i have now sold my iphone thats why i need a hardware version
Thanks again

I was looking for one couple months ago, so purchased and downloaded couple for comparison. sound level meter pro (http://itunes.apple.com/app/id553141695?mt=8 (http://itunes.apple.com/app/id553141695?mt=8)) has 2 extra weightings others lack, and the interface is neat. it meets the accuracy i needed so far, like it.Mike20 wrote:Hey, i want to buy an SPL meter for my studio, as i produce full time on Adam A7Xs (They really throw the high end in your face) i want to have an SPL meter on my desk just to make sure im not monitoring too loud
