Diva Ladder filter cracking and popping when used with basic JP8 template?

I'm having a strange issue with Diva, simply when I initialize the JP8 template, and switch the filter to Ladder, upon clicking on the filter (I don't even have to turn the knob) I get crackles and pops. It cracks and pops the same when I move the filter as well.
I notice the JP8 uses significantly more CPU than the Minipoly, and I'm actually quite curious why this is. When I switch to the ladder filter, my CPU spikes to 60% (I'm using a maximum of 5 voices).
Has anyone run into the same issue? Can anyone offer a solution? Is 60% CPU usage simply too much? If so, do you recommend writing music in draft or fast mode until the final stages of rendering? And if so, how can you trust the sound when it's not running at optimal quality?
Thanks, and I look forward to hearing back from the community!

Are you sure your the output levels are not exceeded once you switch to the ladder filter?
Turn the output down and see if that corrects it.
What are your cpu specs?
I have no problems doing 6 voice with 2 stacked voices, and a long release time poly pad, going to about 60%cpu without "multi-threading" enabled in "divine mode"-best.
My system is only a 2.88ghz Coreduo2 macbook pro...4gb ram.

Yes, that's actually the first thing I do before I play a note to avoid blowing my monitors and ears
I reduce the output the 0 and then bring it up to a comfortable level.
My CPU is an iMac running quad 2.8 Intel i7's with 8 GB of RAM.
And it was the only instrument I had running at the time, just that one singular instance of Diva.
Any suggestions from the u-he guys?
Cheers,

I'm happy to report that I think I have solved the problem..........I re-downloaded Diva, and looks like I've gone from Rev 480 to Rev 674. Clearly there have been some updates while I've been away from the studio! The CPU usage looks to be significantly reduced with this update, huzzah!

Don't forget the added "multi-threading" button, for lowering cpu usage even more.
