That's ridiculous.

He knows you don't have a car.

On my machine, I was transitioning all my projects to 64-bit (those that didn't use 32-bit only plugs). The goal was to load 64-bit Sonar more often than 32-bit Sonar. I reject the bit bridge.

Then the computer did its latest (& last) "I don't wanna boot/recognize PCI devices!" fit, and I got rid of it in rage. The backup PC runs WinXP and there's no support for 64-bit on the hardware. And I got halfway through my projects. Now I don't know how I'm going to convert the 64-bit projects to audio tracks to archive them for use on my Macs. Anyone wanna throw me an intel Mac mini?

Sigh.

(and the computer is a right pain in the ass already, see my "what pissed you off today" entry for last night)

I don't play 32 bit on the radio now. I only ever buy 32 bit in vinyl now and play it on my gramophone.
my gramma always tells me to turn down the radio whenever she's on the phone dressed in vinyl

So now I'm all confused. Will I get more RAM running 32 bit plugins in FL on my 64 bit computer?
For that matter, why did Microsoft feel the need to put what amounts to 2 OS on Win 7. Does Win 8 fix this? Will it ever be integrated? Does that mean Win 7 was just thrown out 'as is' because so many people griped about Vista, and now if they fix this, it's us screwed out of $150.00 to 'update' to the new OS?
It's strange. You know, with XP, they had NT as a kind of ghost shell that ran within it, so why not now? I've been with Windows since DOS, and it's never been like this...

Late to the party as usual.

You won't hear (here) me complaining

I suppose it is like having an 8 inch **** and complaining that there are no
8 inch ****** to put it in.

Here hare, hear her.

Mine is too big already. I mean my RAM.
Ooh that did not sound right either.

No one needs it. I am 32 bit for ever.

It's 64-bit in the bus anyway. What more could a girl (I mean MAN) ask for?
Here hare, hair here.

Very intelligent question btw.

chairs.
I mean cheres. I think maybe chairs.
No good god, I meant Cheers.

Oh f**k it.

Hear hair.

People that want that kind of bandwidth have bandwidth envy if you ask me.

Try running Hollywood Strings or any other major orchestral library on a 32 bit machine with 4gb of RAM.

No no no, you're just wrong. People have made music on 32 bit systems for a long time :smack:

Did someone make the 128 bit snipe yet? Oh wait......here it is.....

:phew: I maybe we were losing it.........

People have made music with less than 3.5 gb ram for a long time but back then sampled instruments were smaller less detail. Tilian is over 1.5 GB for a lot of presets so is SSD 4. Thats two tracks and you're out of RAM.

A DAW will crash at 3.2GB on a 32 bit system.

So? I mean, you don't expect someone to actually USE something like that......do you? Well..........do you????? :smack:

ttoz,

Then why do I not have ANY problems - and I can run 20 or more virtual instruments on a project with effects on many channels AND another 10 or more audio tracks, etc. etc. No problems.

I have 8GB of ram, but all of my plugins are 32 bit and the DAW is 32 bit.

Sorry. I don't agree. A properly working and optimized system with proper hardware is all you need.

Mike
Wow, you really have no idea what you are talking about. You obviously don't use any large sample libraries. Try loading up a large VSL orchestral palette (with all the samples streaming from disc) and you will quickly realize that a 32-bit host just isn't going to cut it, no matter how well "optimized" the system is (whatever that means).

Once you are using a 64-bit host then all of your plug-ins need to be 64-bit as well. That's because EVERY single "bit-bridge" adapter, whether the native adapters in Cubase or Logic or a third-party solution like jBridge, crashes constantly.

It's mind boggling how someone can be so ignorant and annoyingly obstinate about it as well.

But all the best albums were MADE W/O x64......:smack: You can't possibly use x64 for anything! 32 bit has been fine for decades......you don't need x64, it's placebo, it's like slash.........ITS.......NOT..........REAL! :x

@Hibidy

I expect people to use the best sounds that todays technology can offer if they want to. Larger samples is more sound detail more layers, more expressive.
64bit works for me gives me freedom to use more sampled instruments in my mixes if it works and is needed than its a good idea. Live 8 was crash crash crash in 32bit because of the 32bit limitations. Now with 64bit it works.

All CPUS are now 64bit
Have you seen the price of RAM these days?
NO need to hate on 64bit it only offers more creative freedom.
Windows XP is over 10 years old 32bit is coming to an end.
