The featureset is so different...

Depends on where you put the bar ;) - they use different principles. Diva's oscillators do analogue stuff very well (sync, fm) but Zebra's oscillators offer a broad range of synthesis within themselves. Yet I fail to see why a plain sawtooth from each would sound any different below, say, 17kHZ.

I remember threads on KVR where people measured spectrum and aliasing of various synths, and Zebra's oscillators seemed to do exceptionally well.

Myself I can't really say much about other synths, because I have no reference. I got tired of checking out many other softsynths, it hasn't proven helpful to me.

i wonder if it's just my ears playing tricks on me. or maybe it's the presets in diva. But I've bought both zebraHZ and diva and i feel like the sound i get out of my diva synth is better then zebra...maybe im wrong though. I would be REALLY interested to hear someone recreate the TUC Simple Fusion Lead in Zebra...that is a sound to me that kinda explains how great Diva is...i'd love to hear that same sound in zebra.

Zebra cannot do what Diva does... but Diva cannot do what Zebra does... they compliment each other well...

I remember when Diva was on developement stage Urs wrote that if you have Zebra, you won't need Diva. ;)

For those of you who own Zebra, DZ, and Diva - all three - how close do you think HZ comes to Diva in sound quality? Here's why I'm asking.

I have Z2.5 now. I bought it when Diva first came out and had to decide between the two, and ended up buying Zebra. Fantastic synth, and I don't regret the decision at all.

The $99 deal for DZ looks pretty sweet to me, the upgrade to Z3 is free, and so the Hans/Howard banks and the DZ version of Zebra area a subset of that. So, I am really close to buying DZ.

I would just like the opinion of the experienced U-He users on how close DZ comes to Diva. I know they're not the same, but I remember reading a few times that the DZ filters are the same as those in Diva. So I would think they're quite close, sonic wise. I'm not trying to get Diva by buying DZ, I'd just like to get close. It's a cost decision I'm making - right now, I can't shell out the bucks for both.

Thank you,
Todd

That was before we did that circuit simulation thing... based on the idea I got from Bazille and Zebra's XMF

And so, any news on Bazille? ;) or ACE XL? :) :) :)
