BTW a note about the idea to compare our masters to the job of a professional: if you take the same song to 10 different mastering engineers you will get 10 different results

Also the author of the song will tell the engineer what to do or he will decided on his own taste? We had no strict guidelines, so it's more easy for the engineer to do a better work (:hihi: take it as an ironic comment).

I think that the best thing would be if an engineer could express his opinion about what we have done

Maybe they (MEs listed on 1st page) can be asked to do this also as an advertisement of their service and what good mastering can do. I think it can be worth it to them even for a low price.

We will send the money once we have decided how much we have and who we will choose. We may only need $30 for example.

It can be sent to my paypal account but everything here is public.

for the second challenge i would really like you to introduce a usd 5 fee for every entry.

this will enhance overall quality and number of entries
and
will make us contact a pro m.e. early.

As of tomorrow, no more entries. We will decided on an ME and get it mastered. We only have two choices right now, Vital Mastering and Bevrlykills. I am keen to try out Vital Mastering, so that is my vote.

Ill agree with your choice since it was your idea in the first place and started it and its taken off quite well dont you think. Is there a prize or is it just donations for a proper master to compare entries against or do we have a prize now?, when you started this it was meant to be fun and most of all free. Have you thought about emailing a few mastering companies asking for a sponsor to do a free master and in return they will get a good coverage of their business in the thread in return. I really dont want to pay a fee for something that was originally intended to be mostly fun and free for everyone but it is your call I do believe, and some people could perceive this as a scam as they could accuse you of being biased towards a mastering engineer looking for a way to get some quick money going, it is quite the opportunity if a single mastering engineer did the master and got paid every month for it continually, or are we going to use different ones every month, I was just wondering thats all, if it gets big time we could also have sponsors donate prizes I suppose like the OSC that KVR does every month, just Ideas I guess, what do you think??

Well a few things:

1. I'm not choosing the ME, we should all vote.

2. Our choice will also depend on what funds we have

3. Anyone can suggest another ME to add to the list

4. I want to pay the ME because I want to support the business.

5. If everyone only pays $5 it's not a big deal

No problems, sounds more than fair to me, so it will be $5 paypal all the way then, and you might want to think about those free sponsor prizes and stuff like the one synth challenge now moneys involved and it could get a little messy I suppose if someone wanted a refund if they are proper sore losers and stuff. Who knows, we could even throw a few prizes ourselves in, ive got a lot of spare abandoned crysonic plugins that we can use since they never talk or contact me anymore since I bought the Crysonic Everything Bundle in 2008. Hell, I could even copy it and we can give a copy away each month

but you seriously might want to get in touch with some devs who want to sponsor the compo for coverage of their products or just plain advertising, I can think of a few now that would probably participate given the proper motivation and sponsorship deals or whatever you want to call it, as long as its legal everything is fine, but I do wonder what the mods are thinking about all this??

A contest for sh*t's and giggles where you have to pay to enter just to see how "well" it performs to random-engineer #1?

Sorry, but then I'd rather stick to my own engineering.
