Sorry guys, I've been a bit busy.
I think at this point we need to decide about the ME.
Please give your opinions over the next day or so and then I'll PM those who said they would donate.

Can you make a list of the choices?Aiynzahev wrote:Please give your opinions over the next day or so
I like the offer from darkflame23. But it will prove that my version is way too squashed. Oh, would George Martin use his real name on this forum?

I'm happy to go with whatever is decided. I have no preference and you probably have a much better idea of suitable candidates.Aiynzahev wrote:

I know entries are closed, but I thought I would do one anyway. The track was just so good!
This one is just for fun: http://magicmonkeystudio.com/storage/Ag ... Master.mp3

Thats what I thought when it went from fun to paying for nothing but aiynzahev seems like a decent chap and they only asked for $5 so it hardly breaks the bank. Maybe if some sponsors would put up prizes and stuff and maybe like someone offered to do the pro master for free then its all good, because its people seeking professional quality examples and comparisons to their own work to see where they are falling short was what the original idea to this was meant to be.Compyfox wrote:A contest for sh*t's and giggles where you have to pay to enter just to see how "well" it performs to random-engineer #1?cyphersuit wrote:for the second challenge i would really like you to introduce a usd 5 fee for every entry.
this will enhance overall quality and number of entries
and
will make us contact a pro m.e. early.
Sorry, but then I'd rather stick to my own engineering.
Perhaps as Ive spoke with you before and obviously can tell by the way you speak and come across as a person you know what you know what you are doing you could do a quality master for free just to help the people out who are trying to improve their skills, because at the after all they are only trying to aspire to be someone like you (as good as) one day so why not give a helping hand although I truly understand where you coming from but this is what KVR was meant to be all about, why not?? even I know you to be a decent person so how about it
PS_ Ive now nominated you as my mastering engineer of choice so pull your finger out as Ive put my trust and credentials in the hope that you might actually honour this request i have made of you. We have spoken once or twice on mixing issues and I know that you know what you are talking about so it looks like you might have a choice to make, you could even end up with some work and pay from it, or even better GRATITUDE FROM GRATEFUL KVR people, especially me for 1.

I'll think about joining the second round.
I also think a bi-monthly to quarter-year challenge is a good start. But I think we need more refined rules for the next run, a bit of research for a high rated professional prior to all that - if we want to involve one.
Don't know about prices sponsored. Mastering is a very subjective topic - some like it, some don't. I remind you of the "Death Magnetic" disaster. Also consider taking time for voting, etc.
I think we should finally start a board subsection for such challenges. Like the "one synth challenge", now the "mastering challenge", I can even think of a song writing competition (write a song within 1 week, or remix a track by a musician within one week, write a song with a certain topic within one weeek, etc) like I know from remix communities like OCRemix.
It does make sense to split that off.
I'll keep an eye on this. And I'll contact you through PM shortly.

Thank you very much and they are some very good ideas and probably the best way to handle things. Again, thank youCompyfox wrote:I'll think about joining the second round.

Looks like it unless they are listening and choosing but the downloads would show which they dont and the soundcloud quality leaves a lot to be desired so only the downloaded version would really show the true quality of the mix dont you think.manducator wrote:It seems so. It was supposed to be Aiynzahevs idea but it looks like the whole idea has blown away like a fart in the wind
