NKI is the instrument file, it references the samples only. NKX is an archive in which all samples are compressed.

so both Kontakt and Kontakt Player have NKI and NKX files?
I don't understand. Why Kontakt Player files are locked?

Kontakt Player libraries will ALWAYS have samples packed in the monoliths. It's just how things are. Note that NKIs can still be open and editable (but only in full version of Kontakt). But samples are those that are going into a monolith. Now, developer can choose to lock the programming or not, but for samples... that's gonna have to be a separate download.
Kontakt Player is basically a "demo" version of Kontakt full, which means you can try all features that Kontakt has, but only for 15 minutes (for your own files and non-Kontakt Player libraries). So of course both Kontakt and Kontakt Player will support NKI and NKX files - it's their own format anyways.

I would love to have this an official Kontakt library.
It makes selecting it from the menu so much easier.

Kontakt Player lib would for sure be nice for all those who don't own Kontakt, but it could double the price. Only below $100 player combatible instrument I can think of is Sonic Reality Infinite Player and it's there to allow use of other libraries.
Don't know about NI's licensing, but selling both player and non-player version could make sense. I've seen some company do it, but can't remember which.

Well, let me ask: what do you guys think the library will be - or should be - priced at, with or without Kontakt Player? Given what you know about the price of the original, the current feature list, and the price of libraries like Electri6ity, Evolution Electric Guitar, V-Metal, etc.
We actually have something in mind already but I'm curious to hear what is expected.

I think I'd need to see a video demo of the instrument for me to come up with an actual price.....zircon wrote:Well, let me ask: what do you guys think the library will be - or should be - priced at, with or without Kontakt Player? i don't mind the price if Shreddage 2 will be a competitive and full featured product, better than the others.

Definitely will be making a minimum of one video showcasing how it works. We just don't have a functional UI skin yet or skinned fretboard monitor.cc80536 wrote:I think I'd need to see a video demo of the instrument for me to come up with an actual price.....zircon wrote:Well, let me ask: what do you guys think the library will be - or should be - priced at, with or without Kontakt Player? As an anime fan, I felt compelled to give the Trigun main theme a shot with Shreddage 2 and Shreddage Bass. I guess you could say this is the first real demo, although there's still work to be done on the library. Hope you enjoy!

Comparing price to competitors is meaningless to me, since I don't even consider a guitar lib that costs several hundred dollars. If sequel costs ~$100 I'll get it, if more I won't. Comparing to the original I'd guess it's going to be somewhere between $100 and $150.zircon wrote:Well, let me ask: what do you guys think the library will be - or should be - priced at, with or without Kontakt Player? When do you think Shreddage 2 will be availible at this point?
Personally I don't care about the price,if it will be reasonable for what the product will offer.

It only takes three words to sum up my feelings after listening to that demo.
Really, REALLY want.
