It's a concoction that is almost, but not quite, entirely unlike coffee ;)

Oh yes, I love Retrologue, I just started working on a new song for this month's OSC and this synth is fantastic... well even has drums as well, so i don't have to program drums... (not my strong point )

It should be good, looking forward to see what everybody comes up with ;)
Hey, what do you mean it even has drums? You mean the drum sounds as in hi-hat, snare, kick? But then you still have to program the beat using those sounds.

Post

the hi-hats presets are ok to begin, but didn't liked about the snare presets at all. Hey.. WHY I'm talking about presets here? ;)

Post

My first submission and certainly not the last ;)

I wish I knew about the One Synth Challenge before. Especially for the minimoog-v since I downloaded the free version when they gave it and used it almost exclusively for a few weeks. But you can always go check them out still, and I always put what synths I used on the tags in soundcloud and on my website.

So this is it:

sevaztian - Week 36 of 2012

DAW: Cubase 5
Instances of Retrologue: 12
FX: Maximizer from Cubase on the main out channel

I wanted to do the dynamic range thing but didn't want to figure how to work with that thing at the moment. Maybe for the next one I will.
(edit: installed TT Dynamic Range Meter and found DR=8)

If you're wondering about the name and why the song is so short check my description on soundcloud ;)

Hi, yes I meant drum sounds :) And of course I have to program the beat / drums, I know how to do that just not that good at programming drum sounds... although when under pressure i learn quick smart... like with dune

Cheers for including the Dynamic Range number. I know DR might seem alien and odd now, but hopefully with time it makes as much sense as dB.

Post

I think this dynamic range is a very useful concept.
I was never a fan of that infamous loudness war. :x

Hi everyone,

All of you encountering issues with saving custom user presets when using Retrologue as an AU plug-in on Mac systems can download an AU patch that will address this problem. Please install the patch on your system via the link below to resolve this issue.

Have fun with Retrologue and good look for the competition!

Cheers from Hamburg,

@MatthiasQ: Thanks for the patch! I know some participants here will be very happy to have it. :)

After rechecking the DR of my track with the TT Dynamic Range Meter plugin (no standalone for mac) I realized my entry was criminally loud. I've made some tweaks to bring it down to a more reasonable level (from between 4-6 to between 7-9)

Comparing the two I am amazed at how much less fatiguing the new one is to listen to. I've uploaded the new mix to soundcloud so if anyone has already downloaded it please download again. Thanks!
