Cheers for the update fix Matthias, also possible for this?
Robert West wrote:A forward and backwards button to scroll the presets would have been nice... maybe even a small text bar to show the name of the patch? Seems that would be a standard feature by now...
Also nice to see entries adjusted for Dynamic Range Evo2slo.

Hi, I'm new to the board.

Was going for a 70s synth-rock idea here.

14 instances of Retrologue; I created all the patches myself

Host: Logic Pro 8
Host/Free Fx: Logic Channel EQ, Logic Linear Phase EQ, Logic Compressor, Logic Limiter, Logic Tape Delay, Apple AUMatrixReverb

Dynamic Range is around 12

Enjoy!

Cheers for the submissions guys, and a welcome here Pedalsteeldrummer.

And good you're all including DR numbers. Would be nice to get this established as a regular practice so going to harp on about it for a bit more.. ;)

YOOOO! Its Loris

Really wanted to make a heavy metal/rock song and Retrologue was really compliant with the sounds I wanted. Didn't really push it to the limit because its not my favorite synth ever, but I had fun using it. When I first made the song the dynamic range was like 3, you know what I say to that: F#&@ dynamic range! But I fixed it, now its 9, and my song sounds better, guess Ill have to live with that.

FL STUDIO:

12 instances of Retrologue, 1 sampled

FX used: 2 Fruity limiter, 3 Modern Amplifier, 2 Fruity Multiband Compressor, Fruity EQUO.

I dont really get to play with native FL Studio FX, so if any of these are unacceptable to the OSC please let me know and I will gladly remove them. Anything to get my DR back down into low threes :)

Thank you all for listening and for making good FREE music I can listen to. OSC is my favorite radio station.

another week, another song :)

sevaztian - Week 37 of 2012

DAW: Cubase 5
Instances of Retrologue: 8
FX: Maximizer from Cubase on the main out channel

DR: 7

So this time I got to do the dynamic range thing. A DR7 is pretty low but the volume of the song also seems pretty low to me still. With a number as low as that I would expect a higher volume. Or does the song sound like a DR7 kinda volume?

Post

It's low'ish but don't forget DR is basically just the difference between the soft and loud parts. You can still get everything louder without affecting the DR. (for ideas, check out the very nice 'Thinking inside the Box' EQ tutorial)

Below is a reminder about some suggested numbers from Pleasure Music, but feel free to ignore DR values for what sounds good to you. As someone said in another thread there are no rules in music. Would still appreciate it if you all included the DR number though just to keep a certain awareness on the loudness war.

the trick is getting it louder without affecting the DR :)
i have a long way to go before i will be able to do good mixing and mastering.

I think this guy can get 0.0 DR easily LOL.

It is a great punk-song!
Thank you very much, I already thought of a thousand ways I can improve it. I wish it could rock harder.

@loris : the rules allow you to modify it before the deadline, if you so desire.
