The main settings file which contains registration details, as well as audio/midi conf and paths is located at /Library/Application Support/Tracktion 3/

I gotta thank all of you for this. I use T2 not to make music but to create sound effects for live theatre. I use it constantly and have gotten used to all the little quirks and the "unique" user interface. I can't say I love it, but it does pretty much everything I need and would be lost without it.

Thanks to you (collectively) I can upgrade to Mountain Lion and will probably upgrade to T3.

Thanks,

Jeff (in TX)

Rock's Rack Filter song in my head to this day[1]. :)

I wonder if Philip still has that Tracktion crop circle logo up on his site somewhere...

[1] I should have kept the mp3.
Thanks for making my day valley.

Likewise!

Good to see you around still, Rock.

You will definitely have to upgrade because T2 doesn't work on Mountain Lion.

Had to check the thread date to make sure it wasn't from 2007.

All we need now, are Lunch Money and the "Consolation Project" guy (Ron?) to chime in to complete the timewarp!

Oh, and this:

:hihi:

Great to see you guys are still around, trying to force T3 to continue working in environments it was never designed for!
Holly $hit not the groundhogg! LOL!!!!! I randomly jumped in here because I was thinking about installing Tracktion on a iMac. And to my surprise you cant even buy Tracktion anywhere. And my old licence doesnt work. Very discouraging.

But when I saw that groundhog it literally made me laugh. I remember those days.

Wow. I'm ancient! I remember those days like it was yesterday! I'm gonna get a rocking chair and sit in front of my house and tell stories about Tracktion 1.

Ah yeah, T1. I think i was one of the first bunch of buyers. Mackie should be ashamed of where they lead this to. I have yet to find a decent replacement for Tracktion. For now it's Podium.
Buy Darling Sister's new album "Rise and fall" now! Just send a pm or an email. Visit our myspace page on www.myspace.com/darlingsister for songsamples.

Hmmm... A few more folks, and AD80's full time warp might happen.. should we fall back to 2003, I'll be smart this go 'round and buy lots of apple stock instead of posting pictures of groundhogs. :hihi:

Gonna try the fix posted. Never really found a true alternative.. so might as well keep it loaded.

Well I gave it a bash on 10.8 and I'm not finding it to be very stable. I can pretty much crash T in 5 minutes flat (which brings back a few memories :hihi:).

I don't know how well it works on 10.7, but I'd be interested to know if anyone is having luck on 10.8.

I tried running it in an XP virtual machine using Fusion, which worked surprisingly well, but VMWare struggles to expose the native OSX audio device as anything beyond a really crap DX interface. I'm going to pick up a USB audio interface in the next few weeks. I'm curious to see if USB pass-thru allows for decent ASIO performance in a VM.

Beyond that, I guess I could give WINE a go.

This worked to get in once, but won't allow you to make any settings changes that stick (as long as they're written into /Library/Application Support). Here's a more permanent workaround:

1. Launch terminal.
2. sudo mv /Library/Application\ Support/Tracktion\ 3 ~/Application\ Support
-- if #2 fails either you don't yet have a Tracktion 3 sub-dir in /Library/Application Support, or you already have one in your user sub-folder. If the former, don't worry about it. If the latter then do 2b:
2b. sudo mv /Library/Application\ Support/Tracktion\ 3/* ~/Application\ Support/Tracktion\ 3
3. sudo ln -s ~/Application\ Support/Tracktion\ 3 /Library/Application\ Support/Tracktion\ 3
4. sudo chmod 777 /Library/Application\ Support/Tracktion\ 3
5. sudo chown -R 'whoami':staff ~/Library/Application\ Support/Tracktion\ 3

I tried these steps as posted above. First let me say thank you for this info. I'm glad there are others trying to continue with tracktion. I am on a 2011 iMac running mountain lion 10.8.2 and Tracktion 3. When I tried step 2 in terminal it said "command not found". I also tried step 2b with same results
I hope someone can help with this- I would really like to continue using T3.
Thanks

I still run T on an older G4 with Tiger. Runs beautifully.
