Earlier i saw the thread on marketplace and wondered how come i never heard about it when it first came out. After reading the first two pages of this thread i realise i did, but was busy with olympics and work.
I just bought it and i got it within a minute or two. Installed it and had a quick go through. In a word, fantastic..
Will spend lots of time tmrrw going thru these and making some music. Fantastic job.

There is 17 presets now in the free pack of Padsheaven.

I'v added the Dx E-Piano 1 as a bonus preset.

It's totally dry, you can add a nice chorus Fx via Modwheel.

message) with your email adress and i will send it back to you
in .pdf.

cheers holo, Its taking me a long time to build pads, and pads, are NEVER my type of thing, and yes, transient shaping, and allot of the musical science can take a long time, sometimes its plain trial and error that you come up with a sound, and when I have a logo and things for the project i shall email you the text, ok :)

I finally had a chance this weekend to sit down and play with hollo's soundset. My initial impressions are:

1. A lot of time went into these sounds
2. I can't play nearly as well as hollo does in his demos :)

I only got through the first two banks: "Ambient" and "Warm". And boy, they are exactly that. There aren't a lot of presets in each (about 10 in each category). What is there in abundance is craft and detail. Each sound made me pause and explore the sound. Easily my favorite was "Drop & After" (I think that was the name). I got lost in that sound for over and hour with the performance controls.

I'm really looking forward to my next block of time with Zebra, it'll certainly include more exploration of these beautiful sounds.

If you're looking for inspiring sounds this preset bank definitely did it for me. I'm hoping there's a Padsheaven 2 in the works!

This is the reason why I not often use 3-party presets: if it isn't you who created some preset, you usually can't use it with 100% efficacy. I can't play many beautiful sounds from TDZ soundset as good as they could sound. But i like to do some sort of reverse-engineering of some patch to find some tricks.

I guess it all depends on how much time you invest in learning a preset as an instrument rather than just thinking of it as "another sound". It's true that if you make the sound you probably know how you wanted to use it and what controllers you like using at what point.

But that's part of the beauty of well-made presets -- the surprise and inspiration they can give you. Discovering how aftertouch changes a sound after playing with a preset can sometime completely alter how you thought of the sound at first. Or maybe you find the perfect position for the modwheel when playing in octave C4.

I'm glad I can choose to both play others' sounds and make my own.

(By the way, I meant in #2 above that hollo is a very good musician. Even in my clumsy hands these sounds are amazing. They make me want to learn to play better. :) )

You are right. After all, it isn't I who invented the piano, and I also didn't able to play it, and I had have to learn how to use it for 8 years.
But I am lazy, and if I cannot play patch, I usually switch to next.

Yes, you are right again. When I am working at my own project, usually I can imagine what sound I need, so I can design it, and it is usually faster than search presets (if I can't remember quickly some good 3rd party preset). But if I want to improvise, or play for soul, it is great to select random preset, and sometimes its sound can help me to improvise.

No doubt. Amazing music with amazing sound design.
