Ho do I connect my Midi Piano to my VST instruments?

Can't seem to find this in the docs, and really would like to buy the app, because it says i has MIDI event list editing.

I have a Nord Piano 2 connected to the PC (new win7 + AMD) via USB, also thru MIDI I/O cables thru M-Audio Firewire Audiophile. I can see in the MIDI setups both FW AP Midi and Nord MIDI, but don't see how to create a midi track to connect to my VSTi plugs.

I can instantiate Trillium and or Omnisphere (ONLY using the 32-bit versions of everything, but it works) and get sounds via the computer, but I cannot find a way to locate the Keyboard as midi inputs so I can drag and drop onto the Trillium track. The docs make no sense to me, sorry.

Could someone just tell me step by step like for the Dummies books (you are free to make demeaning and/or insulting remarks if it makes you feel better, but please tell me what to do, I HAVE to get away from my mac and Digital Performer (at least till/IF they ever release it for PC...)

Thanks.

Drop the VSTi on the rack, you'll get a track set up to route all parts you create on the track to that rack. (Tracks are containers for Parts; Parts are containers for Sequences; Sequences can be audio or event; there's no concept of "MIDI Track" or "VSTi Track", really. Tracks default so all Parts go to the same place, though.)

64bit MuLab supports 64bit VST; 32bit MuLab supports 32bit VST; you can use jBridge to bridge between if you need it.

Can you explain this?

Thanks, folks. I discovered that my USB Midi connection is being ignored (not just your app) but when I used the MIDI cables, the connection worked and the keyboard played the plugs. I was writing this question from a different computer and don't have your terminology straight, sorry for the confusion. I have been trying out many different DAW substitutes while "waiting" for DP for the PC... Reaper, Traverso, I forget the other couple. I really liked this one for the Event List, my preferred way of editing...

But after all the testing, I think I'm going to use Mixcraft 6, it works more closely to the way I think, coming from Digital Performer. Thanks for your help.

You should see if you have installed the latest drivers for your keyboard, then choose as MIDI input the keyboard you have. I never had any kind of problems with that whatever keyboard or MIDI interface I was using.
