As you may know by now one way to do it is using quick grouping.
Select one track and click another track with CTRL, and all those tracks (30 in your example) are temporarily grouped together, until you release CTRL.

Question: Is the Track Manager in X2 the same as in X1? Kind of an odd design choice given the newer flexible UI and docking and all that, to have an application modal dialog for managing track visibility?

Not nitpicking (see lots of stuff I like actually, like the media clip colors and contrast), that just struck me as... well... being kinda out of place.

Still thinking whether to jump right now or wait for some time. At least until end of holidays.. mid Jan or so. Beta testing will be over by then too  They might throw in some discounts during the holidays, u never know. What do you think? Only thing that I will miss is free DSF Strings. Rumor has it that it will be released on Friday.

@LawrenceF: True, that window cannot be docked but hitting H opens it so not a big deal. As you are demoing, I would suggest press F1 wherever you need some more info / detail. Depending on where you are it will take you to appropriate section in the help. I find it very helpful and easy.

By the way, which host has most usable stock effects? I'm really getting pissed the way they are dropping the effects from version to version. I heard that Perfect Space is no more. Sonitus.. well, it's okay but not sure how long it will be there.. may it will also go away in X3.

Little off topic but what is the best way to take back up of finished tracks. Render all the tracks to wav stems and then remove the effects and instruments?

I'm not sure I understand your question, and you seem experienced with SONAR, but I save all my projects as bun files in an archive which itself is backed up monthly.

Bundle file is fine. I just copy the entire folder to my external hard drive as well. It's not actually back up, I should have put my question in a different way. Let me give you an example, recently when I opened one of my older project on X1 64 bit version I found out that StudioVerb2 is missing. It's not part of the 64bit version installation anymore. So, I had to use another Reverb in order to make it work on the 64bit X1. I want to avoid this in future. I guess rendering the tracks to WAV is the way to go.

Did I see that Ctrl+A will now select all tracks and create a quick group in the new X2 mixer or did I make that up? If so, much needed enhancement and I'm happy to see it.

Unless the effect was really doing something key to a track, like a trance gate for example, I wouldn't render the tracks with effects on. Or, on those tracks, do one bounce with them off and one with them on. This way, when you have that awesome new compressor 5 years from now and you want to hear what it would do on an old track, you're not locked into the effects you printed.

Very interesting point, Funkybot. It's not only the finished tracks and back up. Come to think of it there are so many unfinished tracks lying in my HD. At times I just open them to see what it was. Sometimes some fresh ideas comes out of no where and suddenly the abandoned track is alive again :-). All this will work if everything works smoothly. Now imagine if those tracks don't even open or open with missing plugins then how frustrating it will be. I don't have 100s of plugins, just want to keep a minimal set that works. Anything on top of that is a bonus. As a personal practice I do use stock effects a lot while working on a track, replace it during mixing stage or leave it as it is.

Now that I checked I edited my advice: the second channel must be clicked and not selected. So I agree, something simple would be be good, now CTRL+A will select all tracks and channels.

Decided to flag it and upgrade later when CW goes on one of it's silly sales sprees again... like I said earlier, felt really burnt by the Expanded upgrade that ended up only costing $10 a few weeks after I paid quite a bit more. I can wait...
