Inspired by the video I posted the other day on VOSIM and shaping sync with audio-rate windowing oscillators I produced this patch... which is nothing like it but uses sync in a similar way regardless.

It's horrible, and you probably won't enjoy listening to it, but to me it's interesting. A sine wave is being multiplied by a phase locked variable sync waveform, and the sine wave can assume and smoothly become any of 16 harmonics thanks to the spectroblend oscillator mode. No matter which harmonic it sounds, 0 degrees phase will always be silence, smoothing out the sync effect.

All the relevant parameters are assigned XY pads and played with, but I also added parameters to change the ratio between the two oscillators, creating rough discordant textures and what can only be described as a downright racket.

Some fantastic sounds in there Sendy! Any chance you'd be willing to share the patch? I'd love to pick this apart. :)

Wow that's really cool! I admit I don't know what VOSIM is and would like to see that video. Where is it posted?

Nice noise!

Glad some enjoyed it! I really doubted it was worth sharing, because it was such a quick patch to make. There's not a whole lot to it.

The video I mentioned is in a very recent thread in this forum entitled "Sync in Zebra" or something like that.

I'm happy to share the patch but I don't have anywhere to upload it.

BTW in my patches I submitted to the patch lib there's another patch like this which uses a similar technique but for the exact opposite = very very smooth jitter-less sync sounds.

Justin3am has offered to host this patch, so you can download it now here:

Remember to go onto Zebra's performance page and use the X/Y pads. Oscilloscope recommended but optional.

If someone could add it to what I have at the u-he patchlib I'd appreciate it. Also, I'd love to hear what anyone does with it. It's amazing how a fairly simple patch can generate such a huge range of sounds from formant oscillators and raspy tones to almost ambient noise :)

 :o You aren't kidding! This patch is incredible!
When I get a chance I'm gonna run this patch through some analog filters. :D

Wow! Coolsen. This stuff hits a nerve of mine. In the middle there was such nice rooooaaar and cruuuunch that pressed my autosmile button. :D
I'm a big fan of your stuff, Sendy! 8)

You're a synth space wanderer for sure Sendy. It would be nice if you could make a career out of it.

Hi Sendy, I finally got around to adding this to the PatchLib. I included it in the Oscillator Gymnastics set and updated the readme.txt with your post comments from here.

If you want anything changed/updated about it please let me know. And thanks again -- your presets are always unique and eye-opening.
