Turn upi the volume knob of your speakers and feel the magic of a good DR value. :)[/quote]
Don't know if it's as a result of focusing on dynamics with the DR talk here, but the other day I actually got annoyed after having to listen to MTV that the woman leaves on when a song had no-let-up and just a straight wall of even and constant volume. The song was not really bad, it was the incessant sound that did it.

Use lots of compression and maximization in a track is like to have a big and confortable house entirely available to make a party, but ends to squeeze all the people only in the kitchen. :hihi: :hihi: :hihi:

What is the sense in have 16 or 14 bits of dynamic range if you will put your song knocking at 0dB from start to end?

If you try to make a page on your text editor, you don't put all the text on Bold/Red/72 points.

Some words need to be big to get attention, but others no. Variation creates interest. Creates moments of tension and relaxing.

That's the reason why classical music NEEDS CD's with 16 bits of dynamic range. An Orchestra is a MONSTER of Dynamics. Popular music are in general, more "linear", but also gets advantages in having a comfortable space for dynamic variation.

Legal, tem uns brasileiros perdidos aqui no kvr.
Pois é! Não espero mesmo encontrar muitos. rs
Até agora, só conheci você, e o Willian, do Wusik.com.

Um abraço! :D

Maybe only the power core, no?
Or the whole motherboard too? :?

Good luck with it, man.

Seems to be the motherboard, because the DVD driver opens and the lights turn on. But no BLEEP, no bios screen and none of the other "before windows" stuff shows up.

Ouch, awful news with the computer but do try another power supply first.

Absolutely, but sometimes the difference between the quiet and loud parts and especially when it's combined with tempo changes in classical music is just too much in my opinion, like both the composer and conductor were manic depressives.. ;)

But of course DR here is more about the difference between peaks within parts more than the difference between parts themselves.

It could still be the power supply, since it produces 5 different DC voltages, and only some of them might be fried. Take a peek at this thread:

You're righ!

DR is more about "let the peaks free" and that is the fun.:D
Is really pleasand to hear a snare or bass drum that hits 5 or 6 dB above everything. :)

Tthis is what makes the movies sound get their impact. They left room for things really "kick our butts" when it's necessary. Room to let the shotguns and bombs scream over the normal level of dialogs. If they put everything hiting hard at 0dB all the time, the whispered "I love you" and the "mega-giga-atomic-bomb-blowout" will just sound the same.

Boring...

After see it, I had an interesting idea for a new vst synth. The problem is, I'm not a developer. :(

If I remember correctly, this thread had something to do with submitting tracks for some kind of contest...

I went in a very different direction this month in contrast to what I've contributed here in the past. Went back to my ambient roots...

Created with 26 tracks of Steinberg's Retrologue synthesizer composed and produced in Ableton Live 8, mixed using Live's native effects such as compressor, EQ8, Reverb, TAL-Dub-3, and TAL-Reverb-3.

Mastered using DCAMFreeComp, Ableton Tube Amp, Overtone GEQ, Limiter6.
