Do have any Zebra patches from this tune you want to share? :)
I might hang on to these particular ones for the time being (might have some other plans), but I'm happy to share any pointers if you like.

[Edit] I'm not overly precious about the intro kick/snare or the guitar feedback though, so if anybody wants them I'll upload somewhere.

the mix alone is outstanding!
That's news to me, because I don't feel like I know what I'm doing most of the time. :hihi: It's reassuring to know the mix is ok because I only have pc speakers and earbuds to check with.

Well I suppose there's no point in continuing this charade any further. ;) It's all Zebra, apart from the aforementioned amps, some CamelCrusher, eq and limiting.

Thanks again for the comments!

That ad is almost as bizarre as David Byrne.

Well now that I have Howard's approval I shall declare my attempts at conquering the field of sound design "complete" and move on to other things. 8) :hihi:

Seriously though, I am honoured.

You are good an imitator! :) Nice emulations!

Btw, how you create that muted guitar effect with open guitar effect in the same time? I mean, are there two separate patches or all in one?
Thanks!

Yep, getting a good snare sound was the initial impetus for the project.

Thanks!
It's just one patch, containing separate pluck, sustain and release components. Basically velocity controls the volume, brightness and duration of the sustain, and the brightness of the pluck. So high velo levels give a sustained note, and low levels just the muted pluck. There is also a separate legato patch, which would be made redundant if I could figure out a way to change the voice mode with keyswitches or something...

Thanks all!

Not as well mixed, and only played in realtime, no automation or external effects at all.
Noice. Kinda reminds me of Jan Hammer. :)

Yeah, that's what I thought. Thanx for the impressive showcase of your skills and Zebra.

The interesting thing about the snare is I didn't even have program it to sound different on each hit - it just went that way! It's as if Zebra already knew what I wanted... :o Actually I've found that to be the case to varying degrees with synths in general, but for some reason it was particularly evident on this track. Something to do with Chaos theory I expect.

The downside of this though is you get a slightly different "take" on each render, which sends fastidious perfectionists like myself into a perpetual rendering/analysing/re-rendering loop as I try to get the perfect take. :wheee:
