I would like to capture the essence of what an average (rich) tranceguy had around '93. This would mean arp or prophet i guess. But please don't forget the oscillator sections..!

Uhm.. antto said something about a 0df with all the gizmo based on 303 was coming .... wasn't revealing much, was he! Depending on where and how i personally think u-he could wait with it. Besides, accent and glide would need to be modeled as well. I don't want to make those settings myself
Too easy to mess up for me. Unless there's an accurate template of course.

Thanks, yeah the 2500 was the fully modular. The 2600 had the various filters, including a Moog 24-pole ladder "copy."aaron aardvark wrote:I voted for the Oberheim first. My only familiarity with the ARP 2500 is that it was used a fair amount on Elton John's "Goodbye Yellowbrick Road" album, which is one of my all time favorite albums, but since it is a modular, not sure if it would have a fair amount of limitations within Diva, unless it is just a few modules with limited ways you could hook things up. Well, I did learn some things about the ARP 2500 here:

I would think the 2600 oscillators, filters and envelopes would be the way to go!

Was the 2500 the one with the "Moog" 24-pole filter? I may prefer the latter 2600 (?)

Nubian Sundance from that record is my favorite tune of all time!

The Metropole recorded it recently.

CS 80 please, poly aftertouch and ribbons available here
Here an example of an aftertouch sensor kit with some fotos that gives an impression how how poly aftertouch can be realized for keyboards:

And here a video that shows how the keys of Eigenharps do it, totally different, optical approach (precision is quite high that way - of course it better should be, because the keys can only be moved less than a centimeter into each direction...):

I'd like to see a Matrix 12 emulation.
303 also would be awesome.

It's not on the list, but some of the early Buchla components would be cool. I'm not an expert on what makes modules different. But, I did get to play with a "museum piece" once. There is an odd difference in the base tonal output. About the best way I can explain it is that .. on the scale of rough to smooth between a minimoog in saw mode and a theremin it is between the two. I have no idea what that is about, but would be cool if some of the funky wave shapers/dividers and filters made it into one of the synths.
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

How about an analog modelled wave folder you can put in the highpass/feedback slot? Wow... CPU hell

I'd be more interested in something unique!
A Wasp or Oscar filter would be nice!
Out of the bunch from the poll I'd probably choose the TB-303 or the Polyvoks since it would add the most to Diva imo.
I'm not quite sure about the others. We already have a bunch of tamed filters from the big famous synths. The only one that truely stands out is the MS-20 filter at the moment.
The Oberheim filter also sounds quite different from what we have now but I wouldn't survive the thousands of Jump demos it would spawn
The CS-80 and the Synthi are more like the sum of their parts.....simply throwing in a few of their components wouldn't get you anywhere near the originals.
You have to look at it this way: How many more flavours would you get out of a Prophet filter? Urs and the gang probably would have to work months for it. I don't think it would be worth it from a practical point of view.
However, I'm not much of a vintage cheese guy, so maybe this is the wrong thread for me
I'd throw all the mentioned filters away for a simple wavetable osc. It wouldn't be that hard to implement and it would add a lot of possibilities to Diva.
Cheers

Like Uncle E said, I wouldn't like OB-X emulation and filters so much as SEM ones, but it will do, I can bet.
You've put a hard choice man... so I voted for Synthi because it sounds the most unique of the bunch IMHO.
In the end, U-he will probably go with CS-80 and/or OB-X and I will be in ecstasy anyway.
and what Sandy said... some restricted support for sample waveforms wouldn't be half bad... just at least basic OSC waveforms loading, something like 512 samples or one cycle of it. However, it's the filter that counted mostly on the old analogue gear, not oscillators.

I'm with Dennis here. I sincerely do not see anything on the list that would make me run, except maybe the idyosincratic modules of the Synthi (because they are so different and weird). Like others said, the CS80 is not an osc and a filter - it's a "controllable synthesizer" (that's what the letters CS mean). So, having the filter, or the oscillators, will not give us much more than what we already have.
And I will repeat again - what I really miss from the past is an Oberheim Matrix-12. Not the oscillators, not the filter, the WHOLE. Having some parts will not help, I'm afraid (althoug I would love to have that filter in DIVA, and also the oscillators, because they can sum the waves - which the current ones cannot, except for the Juno - but then we only have one Osc)
