Well, they wouldnt be in dollars, for a start, would they?tenshin111 wrote:I see completely different prices in Cakewalk's UK store.
Ive deliberately compared like for like, in cased you missed that. Given that the additions that differentiate between each Studio version and the associated Producer version have varied considerably, then I'd suggest there's no consistent basis for a like for like comparison between one Studio version and the subsequent Producer version. When I was upgrading from 8.5 Studio to X1 studio the price was £69 but the upgrade to Producer was "only" £169 if I remember correctly. Now, if I wanted to upgrade from X1 Studio to X2 Producer it is £239. That is quite a difference, isn't it?

Just bought upgrade for £79 and downloading, Breverb and new guitar amp+reverb + workflow improvements made me upgrade so looking forward to trying. Got the strings as well so got moneys worth anyway, cant wait to try prochannel FX, i own all the modules so I will post my own presets and stuff, cant wait to try the new matrix and clip views too.

I picked up the update. Downloading the last couple files as I type. I am keeping fingers crossed that all works fine. X1 has been great for me, I waited until a couple of updates had came out. Only crashes I had were due to faulty plugins.

X2 kinda put Breverb on my general radar. I have a couple of good convo's but no really great algo verb. So... seeing as how Breverb 2 is $200 I have two questions....
1. What's the cost of the lowest version of Sonar that comes with it?
2. Can it be used in other hosts if Sonar is installed?
I'm a bargain hunter in general and I don't need another worksation but if I can get Sonar with Breverb for $300, I might do that, - if - it's not locked only to Sonar, if it can be used outside of Sonar.
Thanks.
P.S. Obviously, I can likely answer question 1 for myself..
It's question 2 i need current users to answer, if it can be used elsewhere.

Its a 'producer" exclusive. And it comes as a "pro channel" module and also the vst version.

It comes as a VST as well so answer to your question is "Yes", it can be used in other hosts.LawrenceF wrote: 2. Can it be used in other hosts if Sonar is installed?

That's true but I still think it is unfair (I know, I know, life is unfair in generalwhyterabbyt wrote: Given that the additions that differentiate between each Studio version and the associated Producer version have varied considerably, then I'd suggest there's no consistent basis for a like for like comparison between one Studio version and the subsequent Producer version.

Not on my system. The vst won't open in other hosts. Same with th2. Both throw up a 'for sonar only' dialogue box....satYatunes wrote:It comes as a VST as well so answer to your question is "Yes", it can be used in other hosts.LawrenceF wrote: 2. Can it be used in other hosts if Sonar is installed?

Here is the excerpt from their website:
"Pure, unadulterated, world-class reverb inspired by classic hardware is now fully integrated into SONAR X2 Producer both as a VST plugin and as a custom ProChannel module."
Vintage Channel is a classic example. It shows up on other host but when you try to use it, you get the "Sonar only" message. I hate CW when they don't make it clear in their advertising. It does not say that the Breverb VST plugin is locked to CW only, so I assumed that it is open for other host. Sorry, my apologies.

Wow, that is seriously shady. Borderline false advertising, I would say, but I am no expert on the matter.satYatunes wrote:Here is the excerpt from their website:
