The full recovery went apparently well, but with a certain effort, as the recovery tool didn't recognize the usb 3.0 external hd where I put the drive image... after some attempts, I solved simply plugging it in the 2.0 interface, instead!

Another tricky issue was where to put the drive image, as I have three identical hard disks (one for the s.o. the others for projects and libraries), and the recovery tools gives no hint on recognizing them (just a "drive 0", "drive 1" and "drive 2" label, with no chance to see what's in!). So, there was the risk to overwrite the data... I solved by physically removing the data hard disks from the pc case before the recovery task!!!

Hope you guys with computer problems to finish recovering and be up and running soon. I guess this serves to the rest of us as a reminder to always backup.

And for those with not enough time, I think sometimes it's better to do something little and simple and at least have something done than to not do anything at all. Depends on the situation of course :)

And last one for this month.

sevaztian - Week 39 of 2012

DAW: Cubase 5
Instances of Retrologue: 8
FX: Maximizer from Cubase on the main out channel

DR: 10

I almost uploaded it without using Maximizer which gave a DR of 12. But in this case I thought the difference in volume vs the difference in DR was worth it. I thought that for this song at least, the higher DR didn't equal to better quality of sound. Or maybe it's just me who can't hear the difference.

Cool. Listening to the track that I tought that was almost finished and it SUCKS a lot :)

So... I think that I will be out of challenge this month... again :)

How much did that cost you?
The part is under warranty, so it would be replaced in a week or less, free of charge - no way to recover the data.
Meanwhile, I'll use a traditional HD... Just waiting for a basic win7 install, then the technician will give me back the pc, so that I could attempt the full recovery from the backup I've done quite recently.
... And I notice here the difference in term of performance between SSD and HD.
Can't wait for the new SSD!!!

Hi all,

Here is my track for this month. When I played around with Retrologue, trying to make a nice and soft lead sound, I accidentally got a good sounding fretless bass sound. I instantly knew, that I have to make a song with this. This is what came out.

FRETLESS BLISS

For KVR-OSC#44 - Retrologue
23 instances of Retrologue in Cubase 5 Essential

Filter: Electri-Q, BootEQmkII
Dynamics: TDRFeedBackCompressor, Loudmax, Rescue
Delays: IxoxDelay, NastyDLA
Reverb: EpicVerb, FreeverbToo
Analyzer: Span, MLoudnessAnalyzer

Dynamik Range according TT Dynamic Range Meter: DR=11

cheers,
Photonic

Sympathies with the computer troubles people, hope not much important data got lost.. :| But since you all of course do regular and frequent backups, it should not be an issue.. ;)

And welcome to all newcomers :)

You cannot use Dune BE in Retrologue competition :-D or you are one month late for Dune submission..

By the way, has anyone noticed anything different regarding Retrologue's latency. I was playing around with it last night and noticed when I press a key on my keyboard the sound is little delayed which doesn't happen to any other plugins with the current latency setting. I haven't changed any setup/config or anything like that.

Oopssss :-o

Now everyone knows that I am too lazy to write all the plugins again. Should be more careful with copy and paste !

Thanx for the hint!

Hm maybe not the best example when it comes to technical equipment as they would surely choose the opposite.. ;)
