Esgalachoir wrote:You mentioned that you're thinking about trying your hand at a Zebra orchestra. I've been working on one as well, it's quite a challenge. I dunno, maybe if you make one I won't have to myself...
If you'd like, you can hear what I've accomplished so far, click on the goofy little fish in my signature.
Or maybe I won't have to... nice work!
It's arguable, thanks!

I listened to your deconstruction. Love that snare. I haven't really gotten a snare that I'm satisfied with yet out of Zebra...I don't know, either I'm not trying hard enough or I'm trying to hard...

The Snare it's just crazy and HUGE congrat for the whole set and mix! :) :tu:
The interesting thing about the snare is I didn't even have program it to sound different on each hit - it just went that way! It's as if Zebra already knew what I wanted... :o Actually I've found that to be the case to varying degrees with synths in general, but for some reason it was particularly evident on this track. Something to do with Chaos theory I expect.

The downside of this though is you get a slightly different "take" on each render, which sends fastidious perfectionists like myself into a perpetual rendering/analysing/re-rendering loop as I try to get the perfect take. :wheee:
very nice work! :)

isn't it a contradiction to say "you get a slightly different take"?

i mean what else would be make sense to work with a synth, otherwise you could archive almost anything using a sampler?

did you use one instance to create the snare? :D

Heaps of reverb followed by loads of compression gets me most of the way there.

Not quite sure I get what you mean, but yeah it's just the one snare instance. Since it's digital and there are no random modulators you'd think the same event would sound identical every time, but something's obviously stirring it up.
