Keyboard triggered sample and hold

Is there a way to do keyboard triggered s+h in Diva? Where you have say an LFO (non-random shape) which is free running and is only sampled at note-ons? It's a feature on the Oddity and it's *really* funky.
I know some new sound generators and filters might be on the cards but I guess this falls under modulation routing. Or it just MIGHT be possible using an LFO and the logic stuff.

Isn't this what 'Random' as a mod source does? (Really like the alternate, random, and voice# sources - hope they show up in ACE, if that's getting looked at)

Since Zebra doesn't have a patchable Sample and Hold module you kinda have to think of ways to emulate the behavior with the mod mappers or by turning the rate of an LFO to 0 and setting it to reset on Gate. Unfortunately this works better for random modulations than it does for getting results that are similar to sampling the level of a steady LFO at each key press. Of course I could be wrong.
I've gotten spoiled by synths with patchable sample and hold, it's one of my favorite parts of Bazille.

EDIT: Ah, I now realize you meant e.g. stepped saw etc.! So: I installed and loaded Oddity... yes, interesting and not immediately available in Zebra2. Thinking...
EDIT2: plus Sendy was talking about Diva, not Z2... duh!

Yes, a random LFO with rate 0 will get you a good randomized note-on, but a decent S+H module for Diva where you can source the S+H from noise or an LFO/VCO and choose to clock it by another LFO, keypress or even a dedicated internal clock would be amazing!
You can get fairly good S+H sounds using Quantize and optionally Slew (edit: It's called Lag actually), but this doesn't quantize in time but rather in the geometry of the LFO (as far as I can tell - i.e. there's no sampling, rather the LFO level at any moment is forced to confirm to a variable sized grid). It also does something weird to zero crossings of the LFO waveform, which can interrupt certain effects.
Don't get me wrong, I love what Quantize can do for it's uniqueness, but I was playing with the S+H module in the Oddity and I thought "If Diva had this, I'd die of funk overdose"
Also, and this is only my opinion, but I feel S+H on non-random waveforms, such as sine waves, is a really classy effect, compared to the "random burble" S+H which is cool but basically EVERYWHERE

Yeah, it's one of my favorite features of Bazille. And since the clock input works at audio rates, you can do stuff like pitched noise (using noise as the sample source and an audio rate oscillator as the clock) or sample rate reduction.Sendy wrote:Wow, Bazille can do all this and more![]()

If memory serves, LFO1 on ACE has a sample and hold input (just for sampling, LFO1 always acts as the clock). I haven't tried but if you set scaling to Multiply, Reset to Gate and the fine tune parameter to 0, you might be able to trigger the sample and hold MIDI notes.
Edit: I was wrong. ACE's LFO1 does have a sample and hold input but if I set multiply to 0, it doesn't get triggered when sending notes to ACE. It would be cool if it did work.

Yeah, Bazille has the best S+H and lag modules I think I've ever seen. If these could be transplanted into Diva and/or Zebra, that would be a tremendous source of doubleplusgood.
