Another stupid question from me… I am sure there are a way but I can't find it….

I have an instrument drum track and I use EZdrummer or Additive drummer to find the drum parts I am looking for.
Then I drag these midi clip files directly from the VST plug directly to the tracks in Mulab. I have turned grid snap to off.

I have huge problems of getting them to ad up neatly one after the other the same beat. It seems like the clips have no function for identifying the neighbor clips and attach on to them closely. If I turn snap to grid on then the clips will just be possible to move 1 bar at the time. I did try the function increase/decrease grid without any difference it seems.

What am I missing?

Why do you switch off snapp to grid if you want the dropped parts to be snapped?

The snap to grid is so coarse they will align on whole bars or so... while the clips are just like 3/4 of a bar for example.

Then select a finer grid like Beat or 1/8. Doesn't that work for you?

I do this with Addictive Drums and there can be gaps between the clips, but the pattern play correct. It's just that the clips end at the last note and if e.g. the last 16th does not have a note, the clip is a 16th short.
I would say you set snap to Beat and just line the clips up.
They should play correct.

Thank you for your reply, Andreas. Let me try to explain what i do.

I right click on the midi symbol in the transport section and select beat.
Then I go into Additive Drums and drag for example 3-4 Pop Prog 120 01 to the track in Mutools. That clip is almost two bars but just almost like most 1 and a half bar. If I copy that clip or if I drag another one of the same clip I cant make them to stick together... there will be a gap of silence.

I know I must be doing something wrong I cant just find out what?

I think i know..

Your right click on the midi symbol sets the quantize grid when you record live midi.
Please check at the bottom right of the composer (where the clips are), just above the racks. There are two displays: one shows the current position of your mouse cursor, the other is the snap value when you create clips/parts.
Click on this snap value and select Beat or Bar.

The clips i can see in Addictive Drums are all of Bar length. So, you should get dragged clips aligned.
As said before, there can be a short gap between clips, but the beat should play smooth. At least it does here.

If you want to repeat one clip several times, there is another way to achieve that: Open that clip you dragged in the composer in the piano roll editor. Right click in the time line on the top, where you think the clip ends, and select "Set loop end". Close the editor and drag the end of the clip to the right. Mulab will repeat the notes to fill the clip to the full length.
(please note, in the piano roll editor is another, independent, snap setting at the bottom right! So set this to 16th or so)

Does that help?

Thank you Andreas! That was the trick.... how great! It now works for most of the drum loops it is just the most odd ones that still remain of the beat. Maybe there should be a function where you can snap a clip to previous clips? That is how it works in Ableton Live, Studio One and in Reaper when I tried it earlier today for som comparison.

In my mind that place in the lower right hand corner is maybe not the most obvious place for that grip snap settings as I was unable to find it. I tried to search the manual for it as well but might just maybe have missed it.

I was supposing that i would be able to do this by right clicking on the grid as the grid snapping on/off is there. For me that would be a more intuitive place for this setting. Another alternative could be in the session menu but then it has to be in a sub menu as the session menu already is a bit long. Maybe this function should be available in all three locations?
