Typical of Cakewalk not to fix old reported bugs in their rush to release new versions

As a Sonar X2 user, the only way I have found is to type the text into the preset box in the left corner of Zebra and save. You can then drag that preset into whatever folder you want in Zebra.
If I mention this problem on the Cakewalk forum, it is as if no one has ever heard of U-HE plugins and the post may get 1 or zero replies. I find that hard to believe as good as Zebra sounds compared to the many others that I have owned over the years.
Good luck.

I don't have any trouble entering text for Diva or Zebra in Sonar X2 (build 308).
I don't know what is wrong for you, did you try clicking 'Give all keystrokes to plug-in'?

Yes,
I have the latest 308 X2 update, and enabling the keystrokes button Is old news and does nothing. I find it very hard to believe that you can click on the SAVE button in Zebra or Diva and then enter text into the the LARGE text box to rename the patch. Doing this for me brings up Sonar shortcut key commands. Many other others have reported this issue with Sonar as well. It would be great if you could explain your exact steps of saving a patch with Zebra or Diva in Sonar X2.I never had this issue with SONAR 8.5. I really hope it is me and a user error on my part.
Thanks.

Oops, sorry. You are right.
All I did was grab a patch and erase a few characters and save. That works.
But when you type in the box you do get intercepted by the keyboard shortcuts - even if you disable them. That's weird.
I make all my patches in a something small like VSTHost, not a DAW.

Yes it seems to allow pasting, but not keyboard I/O. So you can use a text editor, but this is just not right.

You can also rename a patch and save it in the gray preset box in the left corner of Zebra. There is something strange about that too as It does not always change the name of the patch in the main GUI.

I reported this to Cakewalk using the support page well over a year and a half ago. A few weeks later they wrote back to me to say:
Then they wrote to say they had closed it as it was a duplicate of another reported bug. Since then they have not updated me and released a new version and the bug remains - not a good way to provide support. I think they have some of the worst support of any company - pretty much all my bug reports have been treated this way.
that was dated 29th August 2011!re: CWBRN-5808, Sonar steals keystrokes from all U-he plugins
The status of your problem report has updated to "Submitted to Development" with the following notes:
This is confirmation that we have either been able to reproduce the behavior you are experiencing or that we have submitted the specific details provided in your report to our testers. We have logged this issue as an official report with our development team for further review and hope to have it addressed in a future release.

Amused- while I certainly don't want to defend Cakewalk, I'm not surprised. They looked into your report, said yeah, we already know about this one, and closed the duplicate report. At that point, there would be no reason for them to contact you. They know about it, they're on it. Like all companies, they have limited resources, and need to prioritize development efforts. Way back when I worked in QA at Apple, we shipped a computer with over 500 known bugs. They were minor ones, and the product needed to get out the door. I'm sure some people weren't happy with that, but there is only so much that can be done within limited time and budget constraints. Unfortunately, patch renaming bugs with one specific developers plugins, with a potential workaround, do not make it to the top of the priority list.
Again, not defending Cakewalk. I find this bug annoying myself, and as a user, I wish they would hurry up and fix it.
