that is very odd i am only using the ones that came with the vst. I haven't had any issues loading sounds at all.

Oh, well if your only using the VX ones, then I guess we are talking about two different things, hehe.

I can totally understand being pissed about that I would be too. I caught mine right after they discontinued the commercial plug in not knowing it was discontinued for $50 which is why I am not pissed by it.

In Vista and Windows 7 you can run VX by right click run as administrator If you've altered the original sounds they won't work. If you try to load additional libraries it won't work either (when the files need to stream from disk) If you don't save completely when you save the settings it can jam up and corrupt the file. And I know it takes forever to save the main one when you want to.
I keep VX around well because I love the presets but I can't use it in anything because of that damn permissions error. Digital Sound Factory were the original guys who made the original sounds for the proteus collection. As such if you really really want it bad see what other format you can get them in.

Here's a resume of what to do :
-- to use Proteus X2's soundbanks with Proteus VX --
-- tested on O/S is Windows XP 4g ram , DAWN is Reaper --
-- win 7 : all this may apply -- ( please confirm if it works )
--> But before anything, check on e-mu's site for drivers updates, but remember that you need the hardware to make proteus X2 work
-- this may not be the shortest path but it worked --
A - Install Proteus X2
- Install Hardware and drivers before Proteus X2
( because the hardware validates the license of the software )
( win 7 users : install this on an old win xp machine cause i hear some drivers are not compatible )
B - Install your sooundbanks cd's :
- Note : Remember here that some banks may not be compatible depending on the amount of RAM available on your system since there is no streaming in VX -for large files-
Tested cd's :
-Xperience, Xproducer & BeatShop One ARE compatible with VX
-Studio Grand IS NOT compatible with VX
Not tested :
-Planet Earth, -Mo' Phatt, -Lead X ... (cause i dont have
)
C - Install Proteus VX
- Now you should be able to play X2 files with VX ( work's for me )
Before we go further, i didn't manage to have Reaper detect Proteus X2 & VX at the same time.
So on that pc, i use X2 as standalone (to edit the sounds & banks)
and VX within the Dawn (to play). That suits me.
D - Tranfert the Library to other PC
(for win 7 users - or in my case, another XP ) :
- Simply copy the files within "C:\Program Files\Creative Professional\E-MU Sound Central\" (something like that is you used default location)
and Paste it on your other PC where your "Proteus X Composer v2.0.1.exb" folder is.
As i said, i managed to make the X2 soundbanks work on 2 differents PC both running Proteus VX on a XP system.
As for win 7, i tried to explain the problems i had so you can make it work
( let me know if it does. )
Cheers

REALLY IMPORTANT
If you want to run PROTEUS X2 :
- you need the hardware that was sold with it.[/u]
( it validates the licences )
- Update your drivers !! ( shouldn't have to say that one
