Next update, perhaps?

Thanks for this - these are great organs!

been playing with v1.1.0 beta4 all night, LOVE IT! this is the best organ sound i ever heard coming out my computer!

try adding NastyDLA mkII with just a little feedback/distortion up and tape style delay!

holy shit!!!!!!!

i have an important question for the genius who wrote this, what sample rate do your recommend for the best sound quality?

it seems to sound a bit better at 96k, more alive/detailed maybe, but that might be a trick of hearing as it sounds a little brighter as well. i am assuming that 96k is going to be better, but maybe it is not tuned to work at that rate and the extra brightness is not authentic? can't find any mention in the manual.

would be great to release this as a final version asap, can't find any problems, i never would have found this beta if it were not for the forum post pointing to it.

THANKS for your generosity to give this away :)

Combo Model F (and V) are not designed with any specific sample rate in mind, so generally speaking: the higher, the better.

The wavefoms ComboF generates are anti-aliased, and the sample rate will influence the anti-alias filter, so it will sound slightly different at different sample rates. However, the difference should be very, very subtle.

Will do, although first I will have to bring the documentation up to speed with the latest changes.

I have uploaded a new beta (v1.1.0 beta5) with one change:
  • Load/save tuning from/to Scala scale (.scl) files

:)
[====[\\\\\\\\]>------,

Ay caramba !

Post

it could be interesting for someone to use a tool like REATUNE in reaper to accurately measure the exact (original analog inaccurate) tuning of the original instrument and make it into a .scl file :)

still loving this instrument, and after playing about for ages i can confirm it sounds best at 96k :) please don't change a thing about the sound!

could any organ lovers identify the sound that the italian group The Goblin use back in the 70's?

at 1.36, also from 2 mins on with Roller album cover on stage. this is the organ of the gods :)

Well, this should closely match the real Farfisa Mini Deluxe that was used as a reference when improving ComboF's sound:

Code: Select all

! mini_compact_deluxe.scl
Martinic Combo Model F, 1/1=65.34870 Hz
12
100.06309
198.22797
298.43485
397.69147
501.97894
603.42089
704.33950
797.96338
904.24864
1000.07403
1097.82327
2/1
Note that the original also had 12 tuning slugs that had to be tuned by hand/ear, so no two organs would be tuned exactly the same.

EDIT: Note also that in neutral tuning (0.0) ComboF isn't perfectly 12-TET A4=440 Hz tuned. (If you want that, then Alt-click on the tuning Reset button.)

Will do... er... won't do? Meh, you know what I mean. :D

I have just updated Combo Model F to v1.1.0 RC1.

Changes:
  • Fixed key stealing in FL Studio, Studio One
  • Updated documentation
The key stealing fix may cause the mouse wheel to stop functioning in Combo Model F on Windows. If this is the case, then please let me know which host your are using, so I can (hopefully) resurrect mouse wheel support for that specific host.

Just played around with RC1 and have a couple of observations.
I was kind of surprised with the new GUI. I actually really liked the old one where if the settings tab was open everything was on one page.
I'm not sure a what point the midi thru disappeared but I liked that also, was nice for amp sims ect.
The default midi map has PB wheel controlling the knee lever way cool and there is a PB switch that changes the function of the wheel to pitch down also way cool. If you turn off the switch you have lost the default PB setting. Would it be possible to switch the pitch down on and off without losing the default setting? Or a setting where PB up was knee lever and PB down was pitch?
Regardless, You've done some exceptional work. Thanks.

Yeah, that would make sense, I will look into that. Thanks for the feedback.

I have updated Combo Model F to v1.1.0 RC2.

Changes:
  • Remember sustain pedal/pitch wheel link when toggling sustain/pitch bend
  • Alt click to website in about box (to prevent accidental website launch)
  • [Mac OS X] Fixed save MIDI map when directory already exists

I have just released the final version 1.1.0 of Combo Model F. Thank you all for testing, and for your feedback and support. :)
