so I'm trying out the demo for ubik and am really loving these plugins' sound and feel. i am also trying not to buy the e560 frequency shifter for my eurorack modular as it is prohibitively expensive atm, but it has this really amazing effect that is generated by the carrier wave shapes and was wondering if there would be a way to squeeze this type of sound out of the ubik-s via automation or something. here is a video demonstrating what I'm after:

since I don't think the ubik-s uses carrier waves or an lfo I'm not sure if this is possible but wondering if anyone has any ideas.

I think the closest thing is to automate the 'phase' knob with no or very slow shifting on the 'frequency' knob. Did a little experimenting, was getting best results by limiting the travel of phase from 0 to 50ish and - this is tricky - setting the Uhbik to output 'mono' via right-clicking the the info display.

thanks for the response, I'll give it a shot! My lust for the e560 is diminishing a bit now that I know its' carrier is not capable of being synced. one more question about the ubik-s though after reading thru the manual: is the channel offset talking about stereo channels? in other words, is that where I can set the frequency rise to be on say the left and fall to be on the right of the stereo field?

The big 'offset' knob does what you describe:

L shift freq = shift - offset
R shift freq = shift + offset

And the little 'channel offset (phase)' alters just the carrier movement in stereo, rather than the shift value

those channel offset parameters do make a lot of fun in a surround environment. Especially on the uhbik-f but even on others. Sound is running around you ;)

too sad i dont have the place to set mine up properly for atleast another 1 1/2 years..
