hope it helps!
I should make an application to test hey.
& out of curiousity-
how does this work in a broad sense,
if it doesn't give too much away?
Does it use FFT somehow?

I've engaged your points at face value, and explained, logically, why they're simply not possible to implement. I'm sorry, but not ALL ideas are good, or even possible. And I only accused you of being difficult after you pooh-poohed these explanations. (And provided an example that actually reinforced the point I was making.) I think it's obvious what JamOrigin are making here, a pure-software MIDI guitar controller that doesn't require any special converter or pickup hardware. So, of all the hardware guitar converters out there, show me one that has the features you're suggesting.CapnLockheed wrote:Not everyone here is a qualified product designer
And not everyone here is primarily a MidiGuitar player either.
Yes, perhaps some of us are not Wil E. Coyote super genius but
there is no need for the condescending attitude. In general, most
guitarists don't have as deep an understanding of midi and programming
as most plugin developers. However, most of us here have played
various types of synth guitars for decades and know what we need
and want. Furthermore, there has been very little development in this
area over the many years it has been going on. For those of us that
use midi guitar as a primary instrument ANY new developments are
very exciting and personally I like to think outside the box.
I've had a large hand in the development of MANY bits of guitar
related software and MANY of my ideas have been implemented by
their developers. Granted my lack of understanding of some areas
of programming and technology have resulted in suggestions that
were either "impossible and/or completely unnecessary". BUT shouldn't
that call be left up to the DEVELOPER??
I'll "stop being difficult" now ok, boss?
And I'm sorry you're so sensitive about your knowledge of this stuff. (And playing a particular instrument is neither here nor there. Leo Fender and Laurens Hammond couldn't play a note, but they both changed music forever.) I wouldn't be very good at my job if I wasn't good at this kind of analysis, so maybe I come across to you as "condescending". But honestly, I'm just trying to help this discussion by pointing out the ideas that don't or simply can't apply. (And as a third party completely unrelated to JamOrigin, I can do this without people getting mad at THEM about it!)

I've tried more testing in Bidule but the plugin continues to crash it. It seems to be graphics related as the crashes does not occur until I try to access the plugin's GUI. I also got an MS visual runtime error pop up a couple of times.

I am a complete newbie with this MIDI Guitar. I got the Test Piano to play by using the Mic input, using the acoustic sound coming from my electric guitar. Control of the Test Piano was very much hit & miss. Does the Built-In input work better than the Mic input? If so, how do I use it? Can I trigger it with the audio signal input to my Tascam US-144 audio interface? I have the MIDI-Guitar-0 file in my Plug-ins folder. I couldn't open it as a VST in Cubase LE4 in my iMac OSX 10.6.8. So I tried moving just the MIDI Guitar.vst to my VST folder (that is within my Plug-ins folder). I couldn't open MIDI Guitar as an instrument or as an effect within Cubase LE4. Am I doing something wrong? Help please!

It should be loaded as an effect AFAIK.
Sorry not much help,
but certainly an effect.
It will work better with an electric guitar too probably.

There is a huge improvement with tracking on high strings here with beta 0.3. On my 21 fret guitar it tracks every note now. I'm still experimenting with the recognition preset settings to see if there are noticeable differences.

yes very good improvements on the upper frets! I am not having much luck with the lower frets on the low E string on my strat though.

Thank you for replying! Unless someone tells me how to use this as an effect within Cubase LE4 with an iMac OSX 10.6.8, and hoping that will work better, I'm afraid this software will not really work for me.nix808 wrote:It should be loaded as an effect AFAIK.
