Zero latency is impossible in this application. And your DAW already has some latency of its own.

Still haven't had a chance to test again under Leopard JamOrigin. A bit busy with our own stuff this week. But will try to get to it ASAP. Looking forward to the new update, and still owing you a long post with my observations. Thanks!

I hadn't had a chance to report on .30.....the plugin was still crashing several hosts....Bidule, Cubase, Studio 1 & VSTHost. I've just had a chance to test .40 a bit and I'm pleased to report it is solid and stable in those hosts....VERY HAPPY!! :D I really couldn't use it the way I needed to...the plugin is really what I need. Will report more soon! :D

0.4 here. Works flawlessly in Reaper, very good recognition, less than 1% CPU with a simple virtual instrument. Score need some cleaning, as it gets some left hand noises, but I dont have done any tweak yet.

Good work !

Would you be able to upload a simple Reaper project where you have it working?

I'd be interested to test it on the Chapman Stick, if possible...

PlugIn version still doesn't return anything on getChunk() on my Windows XP machine in VSTHost, making it impossible to store the settings with a performance.

Right now it bottoms out at the low E. We're hoping they'll add a feature to extend the range (and the polyphony, in your case) in the future.

Please see the MIDI Guitar website for instructions on how to set up MIDI Guitar in Reaper and let us know if you have any trouble following the instructions.

Thanks for the feedback, we will fixed this for the next version.

We will definitely be looking into extending the pitch range in the future to support a wider range of instruments such Chapman Stick, bass guitar and others.

Right now our main priority it to make sure that all existing features work as expected and that there are no show stopper bugs. So please keep all the feedback coming, it is a huge help for us.

If you are interested in helping us improve the recognition you can do so by providing recordings of your guitar. Follow the instructions at the bottom of the MIDI Guitar website.

We will also appreciate recordings of other instruments such as the Chapman Stick, bass guitar and others.

When recording the test files with the Stick, would it be more useful to record the entire range of both string groups or limit the recordings to the guitar range (notes, as written in the pdf-s)?

Same with power chords?

The minor and major chords might need some adapting for better playability.

I'll get started with the single notes asap (probably this weekend).

The tabs and recordings were made with a guitar in standard tuning in mind, when recording for another instrument use the tabs as guides and record the entire range.

v 0.4.0 test report

WOW

OK I picked up my jaw
Tracking again seems a little better, still get some double triggers on high notes B and E string around 13th, 14th fret seems to be the worst. Tried using the new setup per note but with no luck, really still don't understand how you have that setup?

Using the .exe version I seem to get breakup of the CPU faster than v0.3 with the same synth, patch and buffer setup as on v0.3. But ran as a VST it does not seem to be a problem?

Will report back when I have more.
Joe

PS Please try to separate the velocity and gate tracking if it is at all possible?

Post

WOW indeed - straight out of the box, this just works! As a standalone, and as a VST (in Reaper).
I just installed the latest version, opened the interface, plugged in and played using the default settings, and didn't see any need to tweak anything other than flipping between mono/poly modes. And I only did that to try out some moderately fast runs. This is one amazing piece of kit... :D

I've been playing some split/layered patches on Albino - instant performance pieces! Low E string triggers a perc layer, A and D strings trigger a bass drone, GBE strings play either a lead line or some lush pads...I tell ya, this is the most fun you can have with your trousers on

Tested version 3 this morning, but just found that there's a new version 4. I'm downloading it and will test it tomorrow. I will post my experiences then

Absolutely, and also it would be nice to have a "fixed velocity" option

Post

When changing "Pitch Shift" while a note is sustaining you get stuck notes. I know that I can use "clear" to fix the stuck notes but it would be nice to not have to?

BTW would it be possible to add five small buttons under the slider for octave switch? maybe -2, -1, 0, +1, +2 would be much more easy for quick octave changes.
