Hey all!

Just coming back from a longish MU.LAB break and to find the latest incarnation is still behaving in a very unstable way on my Mac Mini, OSK 10.6.8.

Basically, a crash very frequently happens within 10-15 minutes of opening a project.

-------
Here are two crashes that seem to be related to dragging a rack instrument/effect to a track slot:

Project:

-------
A third crash I unfortunately failed to save the log of (argh...) happened at the exact second I tried to make a new rack using the 'plus' button.

No external plug ins whatsoever were used.

I also get very frequent „MU.LAB quit unexpectedly" OSX dialogues on quitting MU.LAB, even though (ostensibly) no crash has occured.

-------
Less serious but still odd: The MU.LAB lowpass filter, used on 'Basic Synth' makes weird clicky noises when hitting a steep automation curve (I'm using the classic Muzys draw approach, not the new MU.LAB automation lanes, haven't tested it with those yet). The same thing doesn't happen with MuSampler. Not sure if it isn't the 'Basic Synth patch causing trouble. It also has rather sloppy timing, the automation sounding different from one loop to the next - again, not on MuSampler.

Crash just now, exact moment I was trying to manipulate the volume control on the MuSampler Rack with the MuDrum piano roll view visible:

This is the interesting 'MULAB quit unexpectedly' crash - happened just now:

not much of an annoyance but kind of odd (and you don't get the crashed session under 'recent sessions' when you open up MU.LAB again).

Thanks for the reports. Are any of these crashes repeatable? I yes, by which steps?

Post

That's all using MuLab 4.5.1?? I can't repeat anything of that nor did i receive any similar reports. I'm not saying there is no prob. But any more details that can help in narrowing down the problem would be much appreciated!

In order to be able to reload those sessions as complete as possible (and hopefully thereby increasing the chance i can repeat the crash(es)) please embed the used samples in the sessions. Thanks.

Yes it is, i see it in the session files. Were these older M3 sessions that were imported in M4? Or were these fresh new sessions?

Post

Anyone else on MuLab OSX who can repeat a crash when drag-dropping a rack or module on the tracks or [+] track button, or when clicking the [+] rack button?

Post

They were native 4.5.1 sessions, started on that same evening.

It's bloody hard to put a finger on it really. I had a nice productive session on the weekend with nothing happening for half an hour when I quit (and it didn't give me the 'unexpected quit' message either). So really, it's kind of random.

Two observations:

-It does seem to be related to GUI elements, seeing as it only happens (apparently) when manipulating the rack section or the knobs on MULAB generators/effects. I can't remember a crash happening within pianoroll or anything just now...)

-Could it potentially be related to saving? I know you're supposed to save a project so you don't lose work in the event of a crash, but I have a feeling that frequent saving of a project (as I'm growing more anxious to save lest there's another crash) actually goes a way to prevent them in this case, like there's a crash potential building up as you're piling up history... I don't know if this makes computer sense.

Yeah! I'll do that and I'm going to try and make it crash and send you it. Sorry - been a bit slow lately.

Cheers!

Do you still have that session demonstrating this. If yes please email it to me. Thanks.
