ARc is brilliant - it can only help no matter what room setup you've ot. A crappy room can translate well to a million dollar studio in my experience with this software (and that was using the wrong mic!)

Probably xlr - depending on the mic and your soundcard inputs. Now for arc you'll need to use a decent soundcard - not the crappy built in high definition ones on your computer - or you will not get the best results.ferez21 wrote:i make electronic music dude, i don't record vocals or acoustic instruments.
Iv'e found a mic stand going for 5 dollars, i think ill just buy it then.
Btw, what cable do i need for the mic (sorry, never used mics in my life, mic noob)?

Hey ferez haven't forgotten, it's simple; mark out piece of card with 2" squares, work out 16 points covering area your working in with circles but so you cna res use it in other rooms or change the layout (makes measuring go quicker too). To align the mic attach a piece of string with a weight to the cable so it hangs below the mic head. Hth.

NP. That is not a bad interface, i've got one but i have an issue with the mic gain knob, it jumps when i get to about 3/4, don't know if it's a fault with mine but i have to turn it right up to get in the ok zone. Btw, try and make sure the monitors are aligned and the number one spot is centred between them, that's another reason for using the template, use a tape measure and measure the distance form the 1 spot and each speaker.
Yeah it takes a bit of work but you'll be able get consistent results. I've tried measuring randomly or loosely placing pieces od card in the listening spot but the more anal you are the better the results. Others have had similar issues but Ik improved things with V2, there's an update just been released too.
