Urs have you ever thought of designing something like Reaktor?

I have been using your plugins for a while now, and they sound great.
However I was wondering if you ever thought of maybe designing a system like Reaktor?
Also have you used reaktor at all? Im just curious on your thoughts on reaktor.
Cheers,

Reaktor is the most amazing synth i have ever expiriensed!!!
I think it would be more then amazing if u could load all UHE synths in to Reaktor!
Any thoughts on that cool idea?!

Hmm, while I would love the u-he take on such an environment, I wonder whether or not that would be the best use of development time. After all, a mature Reaktor already exists, as does Max, Pd, etc, so I wonder whether or not another environment would really be able to catch enough market-share to be worth it (although, again, I would certainly love to try u-he's take).

Hmmm... the thing about these environments is that they work on a sample per sample basis. So each module processes one sample for each input and passes the results to the outputs which may then be picked up by following processes.
While this offers ultimate flexibility, it also easily gets complicated to set up and it's hard to compete CPU-wise with processes that are optimised for processing blocks of samples.
Designing such an environment is mostly about designing technical means to let others design complex processes out of some tiny little low level elements. But I'm merely a guy who likes to design actual instruments and whole modules of larger modular environments. I'm thus not the right guy to do something that just offers a gazillion of little flip flops, multipliers and shift registers. I think my strength lies elsewhere

I do not think Uhe has to make something like Reaktor because Reaktor already exist, so why we do need to exectly the same synths?! But instid the genius idia is: ability to load all Uhe synth in to Reaktor.
If i could load Diva oscillator in to Reaktor or use some modules from Zebra or use some filters from Ace in Reaktor that will be the perfect synthesier in the world.
P.s.
1) Is this super cool idia? Yes!
2) Is that possible? Yes!
3) Will Uhe do that? I do not know...

But I have doubts you'll ever get all u-he creatures in there.
But..... We'll never know.

I think it is a feature of musical plagins, when u have modular consept and u can wire some plugins to another or and use some modules from different plugins and combine and mix them, but in order to do that we need to have some global host plugin and u can load all other plugins in to it.liquidsound wrote:That's Reason RE.chilly7 wrote:I do not think Uhe has to make something like Reaktor because Reaktor already exist, so why we do need to exectly the same synths?! I realy want to expiriense that!!!

Reaktor looks like a super interesting concept but there must be done colobaration with other 3rd party companies to convince them to creat plugins which will work inside Reaktor

I do not think so... Even modern quade core i7s are pretty powerful today, but when u get something like Apple Mac Pro with Xeons prossesors the thing are even better...pdxindy wrote:It will be years before there could be something like Diva inside a modular environment... right now the cpu would get totally crushed!

Well, even with a high end dual Xeon such a system would be struggling with CPU cycles -- see Urs's posting above.

He seid it's hard work to program right, but he did not say it is impossible.ksandvik wrote:Well, even with a high end dual Xeon such a system would be struggling with CPU cycles -- see Urs's posting above.

For the good programer the big challenge is always anjoyment

An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

+1 I find the level of complexity, features, and creative workflow to be well-balanced in u-he products (especially Zebra IMO)!Howard wrote:Urs wrote:I'm...not the right guy to do something that just offers a gazillion of little flip flops, multipliers and shift registers.
