hi,

on the modifications you can assign a midi control for filter resonance amount

id rather have control over the cutoff frequency.

indeed you can learn cutoff but that doesnt give you the nice range control you could have if it was setup like the modifications.

i use diva with a wind controller and itd be nice to control cutoff frequency with breath control and have a little more flexibility in the range.

beyond that if there was an amount control for how fast and how smoothly diva reacts to midi cc's that'd be awesome. i just discovered the "lag" control in kontakt, using breath control to do filter cutoff resonance and volume, where it does the slowing down and smoothing of how it reacts to breath. its awesome.

its 99% syndrome, diva is almost perfect for wind controller use. its wanting that last percent that drives you crazy.

the sound is 100%

Diva has a lag processor, does it not? I personally like the resonance control as there's no way to modulate it on the main panel, and it lets you simulate different filter characteristics or take the edge off of the resonance when the filter is high or low.

An additional control for modulating cutoff can't hurt, though!

You have 2 filter cutoff modulation controls on the filter itself which are the same as the filter resonance control on the modifications page... are you saying you want a 3rd? You can use Add or multiply to have 3 mod sources...

Post

maybe im lost, can any of those adjust their response ranges?

for instance id love to have a lot of breath control range just affect a little of the cutoff range.

when you learn the breath control to cutoff youre stuck with the full range.

Then don't "learn"! Breath is available as modulation source.

ah, so i am indeed somewhat lost.

what would be the walk thru if i want to have bc affect filter cutoff, so that when i blow soft filter is almost all the way closed and when i blow hard its almost all the way open?

and thanks!!!

1. select the filter type you want to use, I picked Ladder
2. left-click on the knob to the lower left of Cutoff, select Breath
3. turn the Cutoff knob mostly down
4. turn the newly-labeled Breath knob towards +
5. repeat 3 and 4 until it sounds the way you want.

It should look like this:

On the filter module itself you have by default env2 and lfo2 as modulators... click on the name env2 and you get a drop down menu of all the mod sources... one of them is breath

I tried this the other day but my breathing didn't seem to control the filter at all. I tried everything from hyperventilating to holding my breath but no dice.

:hihi:

but did you assign breath in your own internal mod matrix???

omg how could i have missed it? if it was a snake it wouldve bit me.

it works perfectly. im an idiot.

and as i think on it more it occurs to me that the control is right where i wouldve placed it.

despite humiliation i didnt want to be one of those you never hear from again when their problem is solved.

anyways, yeah, this makes diva very highly rated for windsynth use. simple too.

Now that you have it sorted, how about a couple musical examples! :)

By not reading the manual, I suspect! Anyway, good that brian and pdxindy managed to sort you out.

Note to self: Stop making assumptions based on familiarity with the synth.

Post

it doesn't make me look much better, actually its much worse, to admit i read the manual several times.

demos would be a ways off, i want to recreate the bank on the synth im replacing (arturia arp2600, im leaving arturia moog modular and albino in my setup cause they have the most sounds for specific songs programmed in).

when thats finished ill start taking it onstage and then ill have live demos right away.

i feature some Diva being played by yamaha wx5 windsynth in my setup video:

it starts at 8:00
