Just an update since this renewed interest has shown there was some talk about IK plugins that I missed... We have certainly been in touch with Harrison on this issue in November as we did have some users reporting issues in the past.

Do you have a ticket open? If you have a ticket, you can get a status by replying to the ticket. I don't know what's been reported or verified, but if there are outstanding issues affecting our users they will get the appropriate attention.scalawag wrote:And were the issues fixed?Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:Just an update since this renewed interest has shown there was some talk about IK plugins that I missed... Great, sounds good. I'm on OS X Mountain Lion now so my experience wouldn't help (and frankly I'm not having great success with the prerequisite Jack even running at this point but don't have a lot of time to fiddle).

Hi John, a couple of questions if you don't mind.johne53 wrote:Yeah - MIDI is scheduled to appear in Mixbus 3. Although there's no release date as yet, I'm pretty sure that's when we'll consider introducing a 64-bit version.
- Ardour 3 beta 5, "absolute the last beta release" was released in August, a fair while ago now. Do you have any idea at this point when it will be out? Will a feature-compatible version of Mixbus come out at the same time (meaning for my purposes one with MIDI and VSTI support, ideally 64-bit)?
- How much do major version upgrades typically cost? Mixbus is on sale right now, and I'm wondering if it makes sense to buy, even though I really want MIDI.
Thanks for any thoughts you have, and for your presence here,
Dave

I'm interested in this as well, got an old affinity for Ardour.. But I checked the manual and it said something along the lines that external controllers are not supported yet - and Windows will be the last platform to have that? Has that something to do with the lack of MIDI as of yet?
I'll get Mixbus if my Paypal is topped up in time, but this has me puzzled none the less..

Sorry to put a dampener on what 'looks' to be a great deal at the moment but.......this program and its whole development stinks of Mackie Tracktion part deux.
The original review in SOS stated that Harrison Mixbuss was soon to be incorporating MIDI functionality. That was nearly 3 YEARS AGO!
This kinda reminds me of Mackie and his gang of crooks promising people bug fixes, updates and 'guaranteed' future proof support for Tracktion 3,especially when they were offering a deal similar to the current MixBuss deal.Wheres Tracktion now?
I would never,EVER buy another Mackie product after what they did,not just with Tracktion either but with their entire digital product range.
Take heed Harrison....take heed.

good question. I would only buy it based on what it's capable of doing in it's present form. Not based onSAW75 wrote:I just want to know if this damn thing is stable enough on Windows to even consider.
Ugh.
whatever one might hope for in future versions. Still haven't made up my mind; I've never mixed on an analogue desk so I'm not sure if I'm missing anything anyway.

Yup. Pretty stable on Windows. The only problems i had so far was with VST integration. Some plugins refuse to work or crash Mixbus. But i've noted which ones are crashing and so i don't/can't use them right now. I know Harrison are looking at this bug.SAW75 wrote:I just want to know if this damn thing is stable enough on Windows to even consider.

For me- the glue shows on the list but wont load. Magnetic2 slows things to a grind once you press the boost button .. stripBus makes everything stutter ...but one good note t-racks modules do load and run ok so far for me.
They really need to tidy up some loose ends those harrison guys
Another good thing so far -my x-station audio interface that i've had endless problems using with reaper and ableton on windows 7 is so far functioning properly.. Pretty happy about that

As an update, I'm not (yet) working on a 64-bit Windows port but as I write I'm already doing the groundwork that will lead to a 64-bit Windows release. I have to admit though, I'm still interested in what you guys perceive to be the benefits of a 64-bit version.
The most publicised benefit is the ability to access more than 4GB or RAM which is hugely beneficial for certain apps (HD video, for example). But unless you're working on a feature film, the chances of you even coming close to needing 4GB in an audio app are near zero.
A second benefit is (of course) the ability to interface to 64-bit sound drivers. But don't forget that Mixbus can already do that. Even though the app itself is 32-bit, we provide both 32-bit and 64-bit backends so that's already covered. In fact, this is quite a different approach from many other DAWs which do actually NEED to be 64-bit.
Apart from those two benefits though, everything else is actually a drawback. None of your favourite plugins will work any more (unless you go out and buy 64-bit versions, which will be very costly). And after you've spent all that money on 64-bit versions of everything, what improvements are you expecting? Almost everything that can be implemented in 64-bit software can be implemented more efficiently in 32-bit software.
But it's definitely under way now.!

great to hear x64 is coming
the only plugs i have that aren't 64bit yet are the korg legacy collection (coming next year) and a couple of odd older ones...
i'm curious as to your attitude to x64, as almost everything is now, usually included with the 32bit license for no extra cost
and once you implement VST instruments your multi-gigabyte sampled grand piano will appreciate the extra ram, nevermind windows breathing easier (win7 likes almost 2 gig just to itself)
thanks for chipping in here john
