I've opened one of Howard Scarr's presets in Zebra called HS Conepusher (it's under the 'Bassics' menu) and this patch seems to be in Zebra 2.3 mode. When I switch the mode to 2.5, I seem to loose some of the low end. This could have been attributed to the change in peak volume, as the 2.3 mode was a bit louder, but even when this was compensated for the 2.3 mode still seemed to a have a bit more low end.
Why is it that the patch has noticeably more low end in the 2.3 mode, compared to the 2.5 mode?

Mainly because the 2.5 version of the XMF doesn't have a "ridiculous" amount of gain when overdriven. To restore the low end of the original after switching to 2.5, turn down the oscillator level (you might need to tweak other parameters, but the low end is there).
