Still using tracktion 2 (if it ain't broke...) have downloaded amplitube 3, it works as stand alone, but doesn't appear in vst drop down menu in Tracktion 2 when adding a filter. I have definitely put it in the VST plugin folder along with Amplitube 2 and Guitar rig 2, which both appear on the drop down. I'm using windows 7.

Any idea what I can do to make Amplitube 3 show up in the drop down?

This might sound like a dumb question, but did you do a Re-scan for plugins?

Sounds like a good question to me. No I hadn't. I have now and it's not fixed it but it's moved me closer...

Amplitube 3 is in the ignore list for some reason. I've tried clearing the ignore lsit and rescanning and it just pops it right back in there everytime. I'll try a re-install of Amplitube 3 and see what happens.

It could be possible that you already have a plugin that has a similar name, this would cause it to be kicked into the ignore list because it is being read as a duplicate file. Since you already have Amplitube 2 in the same folder, this could very well be the case. Try re-naming the plugin so that it doesn't match any existing plugin name you might already be using. If that still doesn't work, create a different folder and put that plugin in the new folder and add that to your file path on your plugin list in your settings page, and do a re-scan.

Hope that helps.

Are you aware that the standalone version and the vst version are two different files? Sounds to me like you've put the standalone version into your vst folder. Tracktion is skipping it, because it's not a vst. Reinstall Amp3 and make sure you check the box to install the vst version, and make sure you pay attention to where it gets installed. You can then just add that folder to the list of folders T checks when scanning vsts.

Thanks, I've tried what you suggested and re-named the file as well as sticking it in a couple of different folders and it still doesn't recognise it. In fact it adds the renamed file to the ignore list so I'm guessin gthat there's something about the file itself that it doesn't like. I'll try re-installing and see what happens.

Thanks for the help and suggestions

Yes I am aware they are different. It's definitley the VST version in the VST folder.

You might have to delete/remove Amp2 first. Tracktion might not like having them both in the vst folder together.
