+1 on the Valhalla plugins, but I'm finding that I rarely pay full-price on anything else these days. Intro prices, sales prices, and secondhand prices are where it's at.
Logic Pro | LUNA Pro | OB-X8 | Prophet 6 | OB-6 | Rev2 | TEO-5 | Pro 3 | SE-1X | Minitaur | Deepmind 12D | Slim Phatty | TR-1000 | Analog RYTM mk2 | Digitakt 2 | TD-3 MO | TD-3 | Maschine+

Yes,same thing here.
I made one exception for Omnisphere this year, but i searched for the best price on the net.

Only if they are quality and sensibly priced
eg Valhalla, Cytomic, SKnote.....these are the no brainer devs

Plenty of websites you can get plugs at reduced prices, my favourite being Audiodeluxe

I generally only buy when plugins are on special offer now. I recently picked up Harmor, DCAM Synth Squad, Cyclop and some Nexus expansions, all heavily discounted.

I still have GAS, it seems, but at least I wait until a discount comes along...

I was considering Synthmaster and Rayblaster, but I missed out on the 40% off Synthmaster offer and Tone2 didn't seem to do any sale over the holidays this year, nor have an introductory offer... Some other time maybe!

There's a 20% discount offer on Synthmaster at the moment, but when you know it will be further discounted along the line, sometimes you just have to wait it out.

I just wanted to write the same thing. Some developers like SKnote, Valhalla and Loomer never do sales but their prices are alright anyway, in comparison to the quality you get. It's like those products are always on sale.

Most we bought are on full price , like Slate ones.Used just Uad December discounts and it was really good, now we have discount and for January , this is the way (Sknote is huge competitor and soon will shoot em in the head, his plugins are much better) .Discounts are always welcome especially with expensive plugins , with the new wave of amazing developers ,their price is already a gift !

Exactly the same here, I was looking at my plugins the other day, and realized that the only ones that I paid the regular price for are Valhalla, FAW Circle and Klanghelm. The rest (NI, Waves, Fabfilter) was all discounted and some off the KVR marketplace.
I feel the policy of the former companies is much smarter, they ask a sensible price for a quality product. I do hope this is also their experience.

It's been quite a while I've been thinking this.. I mean, what's the point? Deals are out there anytime of the year, many official holiday deals are not a bargain anymore since you will find some online store cutting prices off up to 80% sometimes. Who's gonna buy full price when even the average official discounted price doesn't seem like a big deal? I even see people buying at such over discounted prices, impulse buyers maybe, then reselling at a little bit more here on the marketplace once the special deal is over. Software has become the worst investment ever, totally devalued.

+1 I like to buy much more from these 'honest' companies that just have fair prices and skip these 50% sales stuff. For all these sales guys... I mostly wait until it's cheap... I don't play their game.

In my mind, no matter what the vst is, it should never exceed a certain value. If a sale takes it below that value, it goes into consideration. If it takes it WAY below that value, and I want it of course, I buy it. How any company could price a vst above $150 is beyond me. There are no factories, no hardware costs, no shipping/returns logistics, nothing that should cause a hardware synth to be priced higher. Plus, free options are very valid for anyone but the snobs trying to justify their purchases.

I did pay full for Valhalla and Klanghelm. Those are priced right for what they are.
Even I was offended by what I was going to put here.

While the above holds true, I would argue that a $200 price tag for a tool that you will use to make money with could be justified by both parties of the transaction.

It depends if you use them for business or pleasure, those lines seem to blur.

Well, 200$ and more for virtuals like Superior or Omnisphere is fine. Also, developers like Toontrack and Spectrasonic don't devalue their stuff. I simply won't buy anything at more than 50% off from those companies who give permission to retailers to sell their libraries and plugins heavily discounted many times a year.

Yeah, I just found out the hard way by purchasing some at full price, only to see them drastically discounted. I have what I need now, so I can afford to wait until something goes on sale for a decent price.

I very seriously doubt that I will pay full price again because I don't really have a need for any new plugins.

Post

Very rarely. Have bought Vallhalla DSP reverbs at full price. But then again, I have never seen them on sale.
