We have a Rev 2 Prophet 5 filter clone in the modular rack, right next to the Polivoks filter clone. It's a stunner. It does have some unpredictable qualities but it's definately a close candidate.
Maybe, if time permits, we do some audio examples...

Man, none of the modern DSI synths sound that like to me, not the P8 or Evolver which I've used in person or any of the smaller ones either.analoguesamples909 wrote:
PS the Roland poly sound is cool - but in my experience like in Diva it has a certain sparkle to it where P5 tends to be fatter and warmer. Some people talk about the American sound and Japanese sound. Thats what DIva needs IMO if its to really cover the analogue spectrum. I'd also go so far to ask Urs again for his muffler addition to take some of the strident high freq again from the raw Osc sound - as they cut too clean IMO. I know he wont do it - but I still ask.
Great for some things I am sure, and I still want to get a MoPho, but they don't sound a huge an organic as that.

Really? To my ears its the opposite i.e. P5 is more brash/fizzy than the old Rolands, which sound relatively warm/clean.analoguesamples909 wrote:PS the Roland poly sound is cool - but in my experience like in Diva it has a certain sparkle to it where P5 tends to be fatter and warmer.

Tell us more !
More unpredictable components for Diva please ! BITE components feel lonely right nowUrs wrote:We have a Rev 2 Prophet 5 filter clone in the modular rack, right next to the Polivoks filter clone. It's a stunner. It does have some unpredictable qualities but it's definately a close candidate.
How does the Polivoks sound ?

I suppose Im comparing the P5 to the JP8 here really...I agree that the JP8 sound is cleaner or smoother...I dont think the P5 is brash like the Memorymoog...for me it not angry or over the top but I know what you mean it can be more forward than the JP8 perhaps due to its amazing envelopes....The high end I hear on the P5 is more muted (perhaps hence it warmth) whereas the Jupiter has more sparkle. Ive oft hear it said that the Jup have an ethereal high end-almost spacey-which suits its name...in Diva there is a lot of high end sparkle on the Dual Osc...Howard wrote:Really? Yeah. It does sound old fashioned now - but its such a beautiful sound - they are almost like acoustic instruments. Modern DSI stuff is a bit different. On a side note - the new DSI filter sounds a lot like the Prophet 600 filter...Aiynzahev wrote:Man, none of the modern DSI synths sound that like to me, not the P8 or Evolver which I've used in person or any of the smaller ones either.

Which version P5 are you referring to?Howard wrote:Really? To my ears its the opposite i.e. P5 is more brash/fizzy than the old Rolands, which sound relatively warm/clean.

Mainly rev 2 IIRC (though I must have played around with all versions at some time or other). I never got friendly...Uncle E wrote:Which version P5 are you referring to?Howard wrote:Really? Awrybody vouting for Oberheim must look at this monster.
I think awrybody agrees this is must be modeled in next Diva

I think we did see it and that's WHY we voted for the OB!!chilly7 wrote:Awrybody vouting for Oberheim must look at this monster.

I came to this thread a little late, but after reading the earlier pages, and actually other posts all over the place on other threads, I feel compelled to ask...why do so many people have such a hard on for Juno 106, Sh-101, and 303s? I mean, they're cool for some things, of course...but one OSC, and 1000s of clones out there already, what are people missing? I mean no disrespect, I'm honestly asking. What am I not hearing? I saw a post last night where someone was asking what the big deal was about Diva, and it sounded thin compared to his Juno106. WHAT?!?!? I can't even process that statement...
What IS missing for me and isn't out there a lot, is that feeling of velvety thickness, and sound that comes out of the speakers and gives you a hug
So what seems to have been the original intent of cloning components from back in the day, and getting that much closer to true analog bliss, to me, is a spot on idea. So I beg you...I'd rather have more modules from varying synths even if the character differences are slight (they ARE differences). Right now, aside from Diva there is ONE JP-8 clone, ONE Prophet 5, and an OBX clone that doesn't run on a Mac without jumping through fiery hoops. With what Diva has already, it completely buries the alternatives for me IMHO. So please, do ALL the big guns from the '80s the same justice as so far before the extras. You're halfway there, really...I don't need yet another arpeggiator, or granular synthesis, or wavetables. That's nice later, but I'd rather see every precious CPU cycle going to the modules. As many as will fit
Sorry for the long post...kind of an important topic to me...Many thanks!

The most interesting attribute of the Eight Voice looks to be the independence of each voice and the consequent variance of parameter settings between voices.
The addition of an OB filter to Diva will not make an Eight Voice OB (that said, voice/parameter variance can be achieved in Diva via the Voice modulator and the trimmers page).
Don't know about the first two (the 106 is a bland, bland synth, imo), but the 303 has a unique, instantly recognisable sound.why do so many people have such a hard on for Juno 106, Sh-101, and 303s? [...]
However, the addition of a 303 filter to Diva will not make a 303 - there's more to it than that.
Loads of Minimoog clones already...[...]1000s of clones out there already, what are people missing?

Diva's semi-modular nature is what I love the most about her. Much more than her ability to sound identical to her hardware counterparts.
That's why I'd love more components for Diva : not to emulate this or that classic synth, but to mix them all together into some gorgeous sounding mongrel synths.
That's also why I don't get the "do we need another (any already emulated synth) clone ?" rant. How could we complain of the addition of gorgeous sounding components to Diva, even if they're not from "never emulated before" synths ?
303 filter would be a fantastic addition to Diva's palette.

I do agree with all this...and yeah, mixing and matching between many strong components is really outstanding. It's just also enticing to think that IF I wanted to recreate a sound with all the components of one synth, I could get that vibe faithfully. I tried recreating some factory sounds off the Jupiter 8 patch sheets on the Arturia, and it's not even close. Not just a watered down emulation, but not even close. That was pretty disappointing after reading all the marketing fluff.nilhartman wrote:That !hakey wrote: However, the addition of a 303 filter to Diva will not make a 303

I guess I just figured the Roland stuff was pretty covered from an Alpha, Juno60, JP-6 and JP-8, but I just saw the vote was for the 303 filters, which yeah, the thought of pushing a dual or 3 OSC module into those would make for some major squelch, in a good way...that would be pretty cool.
To me, old Rolands, Prophets, and Oberheims all have a different sound, even if they are functionally the same, and even when making similar sounds on them. So I'd just like to see all these represented in modules before it went off into obscurity, because nothing else out there gets me that vibe good enough, and I really think Diva could...

Come on... Did you really try? Because I had some good results. And others did too, when we were working on patches for DIVA launching.markcohn wrote: I tried recreating some factory sounds off the Jupiter 8 patch sheets on the Arturia, and it's not even close.
