I think it's something like:
Session = session in the studio
Composition = work you've composed and are working on (possibly over multiple sessions that you want to keep)
...but I don't really work on compositions, just sessions...
...and to me, one session in the studio is likely to cover multiple compositions, rather than the other way around, so I could have that wrong...
----
In case I didn't mention it, can we have an option on the multi-threading dialog set up to "reserve UI thread", whilst leaving it otherwise on "Auto"?

This has not been mentioned since .30 was released, as far as I can see: the vertical scrollbar in the sequence editor doesn't let me scroll the piano roll display below C#2... duh... until the window is resized (which I did to take a screen shot, which then fixed the problem). ... And I can't reproduce it now but I'll flag it anyway, just in case it's something like first time initialisation of something... From memory, it looked like the scrollbar wasn't correct, so it prevented the scrolling continuing (i.e. the scrollbar size didn't match the actual size of the pianoroll).

I suppose there's nothing wrong with replacement, but shorter words are easier to read and comprehend making for speedier workflow. More a psychological thing really, maybe not important?pljones wrote:How about "Replace this session or open as separate session?", rather than "Clear". (I'd expect "Clear" to leave the session empty.) The buttons could be "Replacement" and "Separate"?
Actually, replace would be good too.

I don't know why there isn't a open composition menu? It would encourage people to save their sessions as compositions - which they probably mean to do anyway - and maybe help establish what was what...

There was such bug before, it started in M5.0.22 and has been fixed in M5.0.29.pljones wrote:This has not been mentioned since .30 was released, as far as I can see: the vertical scrollbar in the sequence editor doesn't let me scroll the piano roll display below C#2... duh... until the window is resized (which I did to take a screen shot, which then fixed the problem). ... Are you sure you notice something wrong in M5.0.30?

In the next version, those buttons are [Replace This Session] [Open Extra Session]. Thanks 2 all for the good suggestions.sl23 wrote:I suppose there's nothing wrong with replacement, but shorter words are easier to read and comprehend making for speedier workflow. "Unnamed composition" you mean?DHR53 wrote:Seems like the "session paradigm" is still a moving target... Can't say I get it still. Why for instance, does it open up my sessions I've named... as "unnamed session"???
Well the only reason that can be is because it is a session saved with MuLab 4 or before. So the name "Unnamed Composition" is the effective name of the composition. If you want to get rid of that name, open the composition context menu (right-cick composer background or right-click relevant composition in the browser) -> Rename and clear the name.
In case a composition has no explicit name, it will use the same name as the session
Last but not least: If you would still be confused by the difference between sessions and compositions, let me tell this: A composition is like a music score describing one single song, and it does not contain sound. A session can contain multiple compositions, and also includes all used sounds and effects. The compositions in a session share the same sounds. Please also have another good look at http://www.mutools.com/info/docs/mulab/overview.html

MuLab 5.0.31 is available as an app/exe update in http://www.mutools.com/mulab/everest
What's changed:
What's changed:
- List views (eg browser): When text is not fully visible, full text is shown in a tool tip.
- While finetuning the Windows audio setup panel (M5.0.29), some test code slipped thru into the public version. Fixed.
- Finetuned management of the part editor windows.
- New/Open Session: Finetuned button texts.
- When audio files don't match the audio engine samplerate, they're now resampled automatically without the question alert. (still non-destructive, as a new file)
- Fixed a bug in the Composition -> "Split Per MIDI Channel" function.
- Fixed a problem in the Rack Desk when expanding/collapsing racks.
- Finetuned multi-monitor support.
- Finetuned graphics. (Window dock buttons)

Go to bed! You should sleep, not code...

Event Graph Editor (below the Note Editor):
Is there a key to press in order to draw a perfectly straight horizontal line? Right now this is hard to do. A constrain function like graphics software have by holding the SHIFT key would be helpful: http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/photos ... 507ex2.htm
And a handle to bring a whole horizontal line up or down. The coolest would be if this could be done in steps by holding a key.
Grid instead of vertical lines only:
I do see Grid options after RMB click in the audomation track but I can't see a grid, only in the note editor I have a grid. Drawing automation lines (even curves) in steps on a mathematical background GRID makes it easier to see and feel exactly what you're doing and getting things sync. And let the endpoint of the lines snap to the grid.
Shared copy on automation track:
I can't find a way to create a shared copy of an automation part (in a automation track). Would be nice if that would work just as with the other parts on the Composer.
