If there's anything I've learned in 19 years of synthesis and sound design, it's that the basis for a good sounding synth, is good sounding components (oscillators, filters, etc..).

You can always add bits and bobs and psychoacoustics and tears of a virgin unicorn, but if the quality of the basic components isn't there, no magical code can save a synth..
Awesome. That was the "answer" I was hoping for.

Nothing against Gladiator's psychoacoutic mojo stuff, I like that synth, too. I'm just noticing a similarity in how richly things almost "microtune" or fatten, or something. It also reminds of the how the NLS or VCC add a certain stereo, 3d widening at harmonic points.

I guess I don't really care how it's getting its sound, but let's just hope it's not each Element instantiation that must sacrifice a unicorn's happiness. Awww.

I've also been noticing even seemingly basic/simple sounding patches (like the "I M ANALOG" lead patch, get more impressive the longer you hold the note and listen to it subtly evolve, twist, phase and detune.

But, my favorite observation, so far, is the organic stuff you can sometimes get to happen between the smallest RES values, a RES "sweet spot." It reminds me of analog hardware in that way you can get a small twist of a knob to almost morph into a whole new patch.

sure it got a VST but first you have to take sure the installation path of the VST fits to your vstplugins folder.

Another thing is that in your DAW it creates a folder called "WaveShell-VST 9.2" (here in Ableton Live) which then includes the "Element Stereo" plugin.

In the vstplugin folder you only see a "WaveShell-VST 9.2.dll". In your DAW/host software this should allow to see the VST plugin for Element ("Element Stereo").

Here is a screenshot of how it looks in the Ableton Live 8 plugin browser:

Yeah, noticed that. It's strangely informative/educational.

It's especially useful for the SineMod (= FM), FM and Phase Mod ("PhM") features.

No .dll was installed. The install was in C/VST which my host was pointed to. Waveshell folder is there but no vst. All i got was a shortcut in Desktop to standalone version.

There are two installation paths which the installer asks for. One for the Waves software (in my case D:\Program files\Waves) which also includes a folder with the Element DLL. The other path is your vstplugins where it installs "WaveShell-VST 9.2.dll". This seems to automatically redirect to the Element VST (and other installed Waves plugins). In the screenshot you could see the result in Ableton Live.

Just checked in Reaper 4 32-bit which is my other host. The Element plugin does not appear in the Instruments/or VSTi tab but at the VST tab:

It's possible there is a problem with your host. do you use e.g. Orion?

Maybe you could reinstall with the Waves software (first path) installed at C:\Program Files\Waves and the VST plugin at your VST folder. In the VST folder i only got the WaveShell-VST 9.2.dll file which seems to automatically redirect to the files in the Waves program folder at the other install path (that also includes a Element.dll file in a sub folder).

This is the way i did it. Worked without problems here.

Waves installer id known to occasionally not copy waveshell to proper directory. In that case you should manually copy it from Waves program folder.

How do you know I'm a Gearslut? :D Well I am, and I'm one of the rare people who doesn't use Waves plugins at all. I figured out some years ago that there is better stuff that costs less. Since then my mixes got better, go figure. :D My "Waves" are mostly PSP, a few carefully chosen developers, and some rather inexpensive or freeware plugins. I also don't need any dongles to run these, and I have a backup of all these on a stick and carry around with me. :D I have bad experiences with dongles. [yes I know Waves doesn't use a dongle any more].

Sorry for the offtopic, guys, carry on. Cheers!

I already told that there are TWO installation paths. One for the waves software that also includes the Standalone, the License Center etc.

Here is a screenshot from my PC:

The folder "Plug-Ins" also includes a Element DLL somewhere but this should not be copied to your vstplugins folder.

In the vstplugins folder you only got the WaveShell-VST 9.2.dll file which then seems to automatically redirect to the Element DLL file. I don't see the element dll in my VST folder but i see it at Ableton Live and Reaper 4.

This is what i meant about two installation paths in the installer, one for the Waves software and one for the VST plugin.

So where did you install the Waves software then (you could see mine in the last screenshot)? You only told about the path of your plugins.
I am asking all the time as maybe you installed at a wrong place. Maybe you also installed at a path where you need administrator rights. BTW i always start my hosts with administrator rights.

And what host software do you use (i already mentioned i tried in Live 8 and Reaper 4 32-bit)? I already guessed you maybe use Orion as you seemed to use it in the past.
